Not sure how i found this video but I am glad I did. I went on a 50 mile kayak camping trip 1 times 2 summers ago, and also 2 times last summer. I’m from PA (about 10 hours from Grayling) but I have been looking for a trip like this. This looks perfect for what I’m looking for. I bought the map book and have been studying it. I’m going to do it solo like you this summer right when my employee retires. I’m really looking forward to it. I really love this video you made! It sounds dumb but I’m really looking forward to being able to filter the water and not having to carry gallons. The Susquehanna river near where I’m at is so polluted that it’s generally not a good idea to filter it to drink. lol.

I just did this exact trip. I got 3 hours of gopro footage to edit. It will be under a different channel once I edit everything. really want to say thanks for the inspiration. I watched this video soo many times. Got me pumped and prepared on what to expect. I will comment on this when I get my new channel and the video is up if you care to watch. It was so beautiful there and so fun! Well worth the 11 hour drive each way.

Don't want to hijack your video, but I just posted my Au sable thru paddle. Definitely not as well made as yours, but I gave it my best shot. Again, thanks for the inspiration. Not even sure how I found this video. But if I didn't, I never even would have done this trip. So I appreciate you making this.

Pausing the video to say genius use of the paddle at camp!!!

I'm paddling the Au Sable tomorrow and I can't sleep I'm so excited.

I'm not camping. I'm working my way up to kayak camping. I feel it calling me more and more each day.

Did 86 miles of your run back in 1973 with my girlfriend[wife]. We took four days. Stopped at Lumberman's Monument for 3 hours, but keep a pretty steady pace. finished 2 hours before Sunset the fourth day. Did 2 practice runs of 12 miles to work out the bugs before our trip. Very Cool Area! 😎

in 1979 I almost died canoing that
oh so calm river! There was an inlet to the left, water becomes rapids and drives you right into
a huge pile of trees at the other end. Our canoe flipped and I was trapped upside down between the bottom of the canoe and the trees.
I knew I was about to drown. To this day I dont know how I pulled myself upright.

A suggestion for you. Watch some forward stroke instructional videos. A good paddle stroke is achieved by rotating your torso. Very very little is achieved by pulling the paddle with your arms. Think the opposite of a train locomotive. The wheel goes round and round and the arm attached to the piston goes back and forth. Gotta sit up straight to achieve it. This way you are generating power with your big core muscles vs your scrawny arms.

Hey man, right on. Thanks for the video. I'll be in N.C. this summer taking ww lessons in Bryson City. What electronics/apps are you using to find campsites? Im thinking about a Garmin 67i. However, the learning is steep & they are expensive. Any suggestions? Thanks again!
