Does it sound like a $3000 amp?
Ответитьwhats a good preamp to pair with this? Looking to spend under 200
Ответитьwould this be the same if I used a 200as1 or 200as2
ОтветитьDoes the fosi V3 sound as good as that amplifier you built?
ОтветитьThe amps are Hi-Fi, not stereo. Where is a link to the stereo boards?
ОтветитьAny chance of using a generic Bluetooth board in this setup?
ОтветитьHow to build a DIY amplifier? Step 1: Buy an amplifier.
ОтветитьToid do you recommend this over the fosi audio V3 ?
ОтветитьHiFi, rofl.😂😂😂
ОтветитьAny chance you could update the enclosure link please?
ОтветитьDoes it have a volume knob how do you control the volume. I am confused
Ответить1. I thought good amps needed MASSIVE transformers? Why do $$$ amps weigh so much? How does it compare to a basic Avantone CLA 200?
ОтветитьThanks for the video. I have a safety concern that you should address when building a mains voltage device. Don't connect the earth to any object that shares the screw / bolt. You should drill a hold especially for the earth connection and clean away any paint that your bolt, nut and washers contact. Very importantly, use a shake proof washer as it will help keep that earth connection nice and tight and in good contact with the metal case.
ОтветитьThanks for the great video! Did you solder the output cables to the binding posts? It's not clear from the video. Thanks.
ОтветитьSmall problem. You're going from balanced XLR to unbalanced RCA. You cannot simply tie the + and - together as one lead with ground (or shield) and if you only use one side you're only getting half the signal. The only way to do this right is to use a matching transformer with one side having a center tap, which would connect to the XLR ground and the other side without the center tap going to the RCA. Not doing what I just explained will result in having to have a much hotter signal, which can create other problems. I've been to this rodeo with my PA equipment. Just passing on the tip
ОтветитьWhere's Kirby?
ОтветитьI'm looking to build this. I've bought everything with the exception of the case. There currently are two models of the case (B235a-S2 w/ XLR type options & A265-S2) and I want to be sure that I get the same case as you have in your video. Please advise at your earliest convenience.
Ответитьany way you can update this video
ОтветитьJust got a 2nd of those Ghent cases, they swapped the neutral and load placement on the power switch, and the included cables, so the ground is where the hot should be, and vice versa on the board.....THIS IS REALLY BAD I IMAGINE? Luckily I noticed before powering it up, so switching it manually now.
Keep an eye out people, there is a reason DIY is cheaper! lol
Ghent sends MOSTLY plastic stand offs with this case, and 2 metals stand offs (you show all yours as metal).....problem is, 2 VERY SPECIFIC places need to be metal, to ground both boards to chassis, otherwise you will likely have a lot of hum noise., the 2 holes on the boards have metal on them, the rest don't....thats where the metal stand offs need to be installed (manual states this), along with silver screws top AND bottom.
I bought a replacement board thinking the board was bad, but it was the lack of grounding those places as intended as this video didn't clarify that point. Heads up everyone! (now I have 2 of these amps. lol)
Well, after a few years of owning it, I have super loud noise issues from the amp, replaced the main power board (handles right channel and power for amp) and seemed to resolve it once, but it's back again, happens on both boards, and happens even if I fully disconnect the left channel daughter board....so it's def the main board thats the issue. Happens with and without ground lift power cables......very loud buzz, even with the XLR cables sitting to nothing, if I connect to a source, it goes away, until I power on the source.
Seems that these ICE modules just fail often?
Well, that was with XLR to RCA monoprice cables (tested multiple sets), if I go straight XLR, no noise.....strange, it used to work fine with XLR to RCA without noise, so I can't explain why it no longer does. :(
Does anyone know where to find this chassis/case or a similar one?
ОтветитьJust built this and disappointed. Using my Yamaha RXV1 as a preamp the amp sounds good. However, when I hook up the speakers to the RXV1 directly, the Yamaha can drive the speakers much harder. You can tell the Yamaha has a lot more control of the woofer in the tower speakers. Was hoping to build a few of these so I can go separates... I'm thinking not!
Ответитьis there a good DAC/preamp module you would recomend to build right into the box?
ОтветитьHow have you found THD? when turned up. Also they been reliable? Great Video
ОтветитьI count a lot more than $300. You can get better parts for the money.
ОтветитьJust built this amp. Thanks for the video! I wouldn’t have tried building it without your help. Now I need to build a Bottlehead preamp so I can try it out.
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьThank you. That wiring was little over my head. Does the kit come with any wiring diagram or other instructions?
ОтветитьThx
ОтветитьGood luck
ОтветитьI have not seen anyone that gets ota tv channels and I mean no one
ОтветитьAny idea what boards are used in the Legacy Powerbloc2 amp? I believe they are using variations of ICEpower. I want to build something close to what is in the legacy. I do know that there are 2 amp boards with each having its own separate power supply board.
ОтветитьWhat is hi Fi, do you use this with a receiver
ОтветитьAre the class d amplifiers better than class a?
ОтветитьASR reviewed this amp and says it’s not recommended, poor performance.
Ответитьwhat about volume control?
ОтветитьWhere it is the Subwoofer output?
Ответитьhow and where do i connect my subwoofer?
ОтветитьJust finished this build. Excellent amplifer. Wouldn't of happened without this video. Thank You
ОтветитьHI there, I wounder if it is possible to add volume contro to this amp. If so can you give advice how to? Thanks in advance
ОтветитьNo 12v trigger? Always on?
ОтветитьIt's only $3000 if you're a chump.
ОтветитьThis isn't called "building an amp"😅 . Its merely saving money by assembling the box yourself- for dummies.
Building an amp means soldering transistors, capacitors and resistors following a circuit scheme.
And even though Icepower is very good budget class d, where does the 3000$ claim come from?
It says 200W per channel at 4 Ohms. So does it mean 100W at 8 Ohms?
Ответить25 watt per channel, 59.95 on ebay. 3k amp my ass.
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьGreat build buddy ❤️
At this same price, you could have made a 3000+ watt amplifier in our country. Which produced a very sweet sound and a terrible earthquake bass.😊👍
Thanks for sharing
