Thank you Ben.
Currently preparing for CPE, I've realised Multiple matching is the toughest one for me. My batteries run out by the last part, and even I do this one in isolation, I still don't feel sure of the answers. If you have tips for that one, i would be immensely grateful ❤
And thank you for everything you are doing for us. You're a rare teacher brave enough to deal with higher-level learners and exam preparation 👍

This particular part is WAY more trackable for COMPUTER based exams, as you can actually MOVE the paragraph and see if it fits 🍀

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

OMG, this is what I needed. Yesterday I had an exercise of the Reading and Use of English part and it was quite complicated because it was the first time answering exercises for the C1 and I consider that I get anxious every time I read an unknown word. Eventhough I passed the B2, the reading paper was the part with less points. I took up reading last year and in fact, I understand what I read but sometimes I get confused with the options : '( , but I'm really really looking forward to improving my level and hopefully next year I may take it.
I appreciate your videos. I'm a big fan of your channel and I'm sure all the content you share will guide me through this new, let's say "adventure, challenge, step".

I'm gleeful. <3

Great, but if it could explain all my doubts with this type of exercise. Sometimes I have an impression as if all answers were place randomly to confuse the lerners, and prove their own superiority.

Thank you for your suggestions! It might seem that reading is the easiest part of the CAE exam and especially this task. But there is too much information here and lots of vocabulary I don't know and, probably, not expected to know. Part 7 is actually challanging. I'll try to apply your tips to this part of the exam!

Hi Ben. May I ask you a question? What is the level of English you use while recording videos? I'm asking because I am able to understand everything you are saying? I'm learning English and prepering myself for B2 exam. I'll be grateful if you answer. :)

Hi Ben, I 'm a retired teacher from Peru. I 've lived in Australia for many many years. Occasionally I have people who ask me to give them English lessons, which I usually design according to their needs. Anyway to make it short I wanted to ask you which textbook would you recommend me to start with beginners, particularly teenagers. I would appreciate your advice, thanks in advance, Olga

This is a really helpful breakdown of a good strategy to deal with these type of questions. I've tried to look at ways of helping students improve their accuracy when answering these questions.

I think the first stage is to "scan-read" the text to get a sense of the sequence of events. This can help "pencil in" the first couple of missing paragraphs, which will help enormously in cracking the rest.
I tend to focus on the logical flow of ideas & thoughts being communicated by the text. So, inserting a paragraph that jumps away from that logical flow would be a sure sign that it's wrong.

My approach, for what it's worth, has been to look at it like this: (What do you think?)
1. Scan-read text, then read more carefully the missing paragraph options.
2. Pencil in the option that fits the flow of ideas the best.
3. Cross-check for break in logical flow.
4. Reallocate options as appropriate.
5. Finally, read the completed article, being prepared to change ONLY after reading it all - which hopefully won't be necessary, just double-check before changing anything. Does it improve or fix anything by changing it?

However, I'm not convinced this is the most efficient or reliable way to do it. It works for me as a native speaker, but for learners they might have their own methods that work for them.

This type of question is as much about exam technique as English language comprehension. In addition, the topics are often very obscure or specialist in nature, which increases the level of difficulty of this type of question.

Hi , Ben . This is a real free important lesson . As I'm attending an English course in a physical school , I can affirm that is not so obvious that one can have so significant , right and detailed explanation. I haven't had it yet from my teacher . So , I congratulate with you on this lesson and I thank you very much as well . I'm just sure that you're a great teacher as I have an experience of some years of English schools . I know what I say . Thank you teacher , Ben !

It IS the trickiest part, definitely. I took the "FCE" and "CPE" and others such a long time ago. I was eighteen then.
I took others ...TOEFL (s), CAE... I remember finding them difficult, but I did well...I've always loved reading and
I think this is what really helps, grammar is of "paramount importance" as well, and your TIPS are simply stupenduous. Thank you very much for everything you've been doing to enhance our English skills.👵
