Edit: (Joke, this is sarcasm and getting hit with some Real-World stuff.) Actually, it's canonically, John Spartan 117, Sir Petty Officer The Master Chief. Get IT right, mod author. It is the single highest rank you can acquire as an ENLISTED soldier, or in the case of most of the children taken to the "Spartan II" Project they were not abducted so much as the entire UNSC was under Duress and they needed those kids as fuel to defend their selves against the human insurrectionists, as it was. Sounds familiar huh. Almost like Ex-Homeland Security agents "illegally Acquiring" (stealing) assets from the company and they go off to form their own Private "faction" or a "Militia" that is real world history in the last three years, buddy. Then we have our own insurrectionists in the 2020's. Too much time playing these games and not enough time spent in the actual REAL present times. Meaning modern games and real-world lore. The lore to them games and the books that they came from. What was that about Japanese anime being developed from their respective COMIC BOOKS?! Yeah, Halo was a book first, each one was written by a different author, and they only expand the Universe, say The Cole Protocol, you DO understand what that means, don't you?

1) The captain goes down with the ship.
2) Make DAMN sure the covvie does not get hold of the coordinates to Earth, or else! So, purge that data, kill the AI that the ship is using so the Covenant cannot extract the data from the ship's computers or data banks.
3) if it were me, I'd overflow the ships data banks and nav computers with recipes on Shrimp Cocktails. To be extra sure if the Covenant get anything, it is useless and dumb. Make them think we are just stupid animals. Even if we are, we can still trick them and have our AI assist in that manner, like Cortana in at the end of Halo 4.

So what if they have super advanced technology, plasma weaponry and faster than light travel. We can barely navigate the stars, talk about flying blind in hyperspace and Slip Space jumps. The Covenant can make precise calculations, not only their Ai's but they are just superior to us in technology and the like. We just have to rick them, never mind being blown out of the water by their technology. Who do you think got the reverse engineering idea of the Jackel Electro-Magnetic shielding and the Elites armor shielding? The Master Chief and Haley did the work involved. Chief acted like a field agent in that regard. I remember it from the first book, that is when the Engineers (aliens such as from below ONI Station in ODST) were first mentioned. They were not in the games until ODST because they were only a concept art and proof of concept at the time. (See what I MEAN? Not enough time reading, and time spent in real world time learning shit.)
