What a BEAST the F-15 is. How great was the original design that it has handily lasted this long. Kudos to the original engineering team!

The F-15 is a first ballot hall of fame interceptor. That’s if it ever retires.

The F-35 was designed to share targeting data with other aircraft. The F-15EX is best positioned to receive that data as a missile truck. Adding adaptive cycle engines to increase its fuel efficiency and range would be extremely beneficial to operations in the South China Sea.

Yeah but it must be lost on you because it isn't comparable we don't harass and threaten and steal from and intimate all of our neighbors sooooooooo China patrolling by us for no fucking reason is most certainly a different enough situation to not be comparable lol 😆

You are a liar. Neither Russia nor China have violated anyone's airspace. The F-15 did not frighten them off. They just refused to enter sovereign airspace lest they start WWIII.

"$29,000 per hour of flight, that's like 1/3 of the F-35 at $43,000 an hour" 😂 that's not even half, the F-35 would have to be $58,000 an hour for it to be half my man

It also needs Thrust Vectoring to be a Dominant Fighter, also needs 2 twice the range. It's just a no brainier to build it unless your going to give it all this tech. 🤷 Why Not 🤷

It doesn't matter when the F-15 was introduced. If you have a very good foundation, you can upgrade the electronics systems to current cutting-edge status. The F-15 is still greatly respected by our friends and greatly feared by our enemies. The same is true with the A-10 Thunderbolt(Warthog).

Actually the airliner was Korean Air Lines 747 passenger jet. At the time there was speculation the plane was mistakenly thought to be RC-136s Cobra Ball aircraft.

How long does it take to do a mag dump? 500 rds at 6000 rounds per minute is...um...6000 would be 100/second x 5= 5 seconds. There were 2 F-15's out of Westfield AFB flying racetracks over a Patriot's game on my birthday one year. I sat in a parking lot and watched them for about half an hour. Great birthday. Thanks, Air Force.

Im currently an F15E Dedicated crew cheif, and on the logistics and supply end, its fuct, the EX sharing components doesnt mean a damn thing when we're consistently waiting on parts and get them bad out of supply. Our aging F15s are incredibly maintenance heavy now, in my tenure ive watched our FMC rate absolute plummet as these jets are reaching 14k flight hours. it waxes and wanes but has gotten considerably worse in the last year from when I first started working these jets. id say we are 10 years too late for this aircraft to replace the fleet to have the reliability big air force expects out of us

In addition to the lower cost per-hour for the F-15, because it has more flight hours built into the airframe, it takes those hours off of what the F-35 and 22s would use doing CAP. This lets operators with both F-35 and F-15 to have a regular CAP while still having the elite scramble option in the F-35 and saving those aircraft for when you really do need them.

I bet that number of F-15s goes up, too. There are a lot of reasons why 4.5 gen fighters are good to have around, not the least of which is ubiquity and cost of operation.

Makes you wonder if the F-15 Silent Eagle will get another look from the higher ups, too. I can see conditions where it might necessitate such a thing happening.
