Have you considered offering a personalized 'pre-purchase online assessment' service [punter sends you a car ad, plus any specific info. You come back with a reg check data, what to look out for generally on that age/model (e.g. timing belt change, gearbox service, etc at x miles) and any alarm bells for the specific car being contemplated]. Cost for the service is xxx [regardless of car], paid in advance?

Mercedes lives off its reputation. When I was young, Mercedes dealerships would install a police-badge sized award plaques on the grill of a car it serviced with 200,000+ miles, then another plaque at 300,000 miles. Those days are gone. Owning a modern german car with no warranty will be expensive

You mentioned a Nissan Elgrand, or rather you dismissed it. I had a early 1997 one for about 7 years. It's not luxury but it is very comfortable. I have back problems so comfort is important. I bought it to go to Scotland from Southampton and we had 5 adults all the luggage and 3 dogs with no problems. A bit over the top for daily use but I didn't want to get rid of it

About the A8: I made a calculation... In Holland the same car for the same price has a milage of 134,000 and our annual road tax for the 3.0 TDI is 2,390 pounds. Our average net income is virtually the same as that in the UK. I think you are better off.... I love your channel, by the way!

I’ve owned my 17 plate S class for nearly 4 years now and done 12000 miles a year in it…regularly serviced by MB….NEVER gone wrong….says it all really.

With all your experience with cars, and all the advice you give, why did you buy a Range Rover? Serious question.

Never buy a Range Rover, dodgy build quality, electronic gremlins start creeping in and what’s worse is that is has a chavvy, bling image which reeks of get rich quick gangsters and love island type customers.

God I love almost every car you searched for. The problem is that here in Finland we have massive taxes to go along with these cars. Thats why new cars are so pricey. An Audi A7 with decent mileage is roughly about 47-60 k in euros (41-50k in pounds I reckon). A8 probably in the same price range. And an S-Class i almost in a different price racket all together. You can find a good one for like 40k or even less maybe but they are over 300 kms in mileage already. A good one with decent mileage is gonna cost you like 55k in euros. Add a massive diesel tax and insurance bills for that one and your gonna eat noodles for the rest of your life.
