DEALING WITH REJECTION (from dream job opportunity)

Good perspective !

My name is Dakota Farnsworth, and I am a voice actor. I actually looked today for a video like this one, and it was because of rejection. For the past two years of voice over, there were two projects that I spent every single day working towards and it drove me to where my career is currently. I finally got in front of both opportunities, but was unfortunately rejected by both.

The loss is incredibly tough and it's something that made me question what I even do next, but I got my woes out of the way, and I turned around and did 14 auditions back to back. I didn't just get cast in one, I got cast in all of them, and I don't think I would've done as well and benefited as greatly if I hadn't been rejected. Now I am meeting creatives I could never have dreamed of meeting and I'm finding new drive in those environments.

I started to feel it again though today, and I needed to find something to really process the rejection out completely, and your video has helped me understand the value I can bring to the table and the incredible things that will be accomplished to the people who got the opportunity instead of me. I've texted them back and forth since it happened, and we're all starting to get along great.

Thank you for making this video. It's easy to feel lost in the face of defeat, especially something this massive like the opportunity with Adobe, but unlike a movie, the credits don't roll and the opportunities don't stop coming. It becomes a jumping of point that you and others can all benefit from. ❤

Why does no one want to help me actually win my battle against rejection?

That's what it feels like. I'm in a constant battle against rejection, with no end in sight. Rejection is the enemy.

I don't have ability to handle rejection – this is one of my autistic traits so I can't change it. What's more, I'm worried that being OK with rejection would mean being OK with being at the mercy of others – something I very much want to avoid.

I have been locked in this battle for about 2½ years so far, and I'm desperate to find a way to win, and never have to deal with rejection again.

I finished my master's degree in applied mathematics and I thought it would be easy to find a job. Now I only get rejected. Reality hit me hard in the face 😔

I was just rejected yesterday by a company I've been eyeing for years. The position was a cloud support position with many opportunities for upward mobility. I went on a final interview and they seemed to like me. A week later, I got a rejection notice. That hurt so bad because I can't take care of my elderly mother on my current salary and there is no room for upward growth in my current position.

Jack Ma of Alibaba Group was rejected by KFC and was told he's no good! Can you imagine who he'd be today if they actually hired him? There's a bigger plan and opportunity for you!

Dreamed of getting into FAANG. Rejected by Amazon and Apple after final interview. It sucks, but it means you are on the right track, just need to work on yourself more to beat the competition. Will see if Facebook or Google will reach out someday, hopefully will be more ready.
