Back in the days of startup mania you didn't need to have a working app or good design - the idea was build it and hype the hell out of it to get VC funding and IPO as quickly as possible and figure out the pesky "how do we actually make money" thing later on. This is where the lean playbook took hold and people realized you didn't need to make the thing work - break it fast, hot patch it and get it back out there. This is how the VC funds were getting insanely wealthy, a few companies faked it until they made it (reddit had no users at the start and used a bot net to fake numbers and search until it gained natural users, Twitter had a lot of growth but was never able to figure out how to make money, Uber has been losing money every year since inception but just keeps getting more funding rounds, etc ,etc ,etc. ) Today with the higher rates and lending more expensive we have seen a shift in how companies get funding so better quality is needed to get traction.

Just found your channel and this video has got me fired up to create my MVP. I'm still learning to code and know nothing. Creating this idea feels overwhelming and the scalability of it seems like I need to get that out of the gate. But you have reinforced that I don't need to do that upfront and just need to solve the primary problem first and do it really well. I have subscribed and can't wait to watch more of your videos.

hey man once again thanks, we really do appreciate people like you, and as you said there are a lot of resources out there to learn but you just make it hit different like you explain and guide with shedding light on real world problems and personal interest of individuals, we need more people like you, do more career/different field (data scientists/cloud engineer/architect) centered itinerary in IT industry just like what you did with the open source CS degree, am stuck/confused between pursuing a career in data science or cloud.

Hi,
I have s software idea and I would like to sell it to a programming company, I barely know how to code but I can describe how the idea works and what is the benefit. What are the best companies that accept outside ideas?

Nice take on a very different video topic! MVPs are about quickly accessing user feedback, but I agree that it's being taken a little too far these days. It's kind of like macroeconomic cycles, and people have unrealistic expectations about their product and customers

This makes sense why most AAA game releases have become less complete over time. Stripping down features to ship as fast as possible and hoping updates will keep people around is way too common with games these days.
