Also use a wind turbine
Small break down pole
3 gide wire
3 screw leash hooks for dog then you have wind should the sun be down on a windy night

Great video. New link is confusing to me. Which diagram would I use for 400 watt solar, 200 ah lithium battery in an truck camper that is already wired for shore power.
Thanks, Craig

How many volts should my single 200 watt 12volt panel be bringing in? With full sun it’s been bringing in over 26 volts which cuts out the controller.

Great job thanks! I found this while researching how to install in my pop up camper… it claims “solar ready” “just plug in a panel”, but absolutely no one can tell me the specs so I guess ill have to buy all of this and install like you did. IDK maybe I could somehow get in touch with you one on one and save me a lot of time trouble and money, lol

Hello I have a Travel Trailer made by Keystone. It is a 2019 Hideout it has a battery for the DC system. It has a solar panels connector on the side. This means all I have to do is to update my batteries and I should have a similar system? Minus the monitor system for the battery. Or it means that I can add solar panels to charge the batteries and that it’s. Thanks

Awesome video! However I am a newb so I came away with a few questions. I have a pop up camper ( rock wood exp) and it says setup for solar. But I’m thinking ( don’t get me started on rockwood’s customer service and/or techs , and i use that term lightly) that only means if I buy a solar panel and their proprietary plug I will be able to plug it in and have it charge my battery as another option for charging the battery… BUT its mounted on the tongue of the trailer and I know I need more power anyway….. so. This is what I’m thinking, If I go with a power queen 190 battery and install it inside the warmth of the camper and simply moved the battery cables that run from the existing system over to that battery I will essentially only be moving the location of the battery correct? THEN I have a portable solar panel which will run to a charge controller which will be attached to the battery. Then my alternator and shore line should charge my new battery just as they were designed and the panels charge it when have them plugged in? Im assuming your mothers camper came with a battery, but I noticed you did extra stuff , and it was probably because you can bypass the factory stuff and put in better quality stuff , but couldn’t you have simply put the panels on top and went to a charge controller to the batteries, then just basically extended the existing battery cables to your new batteries and it work the same? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don’t get me wrong I am in no way. Critiquing your work or knowledge, I am simply saying I don’t have that knowledge and I would like to do that and I’m asking will that be essentially the same thing?

Nate, My camper already has a 30 am shore power plug. Why would I not want to use the panels and batteries to power the AC side of the camper?

personalmente non avrei mai messo le batterie e tutti gli altri componenti elettrici dove passano i tubi dell'acqua .... considerando che uno dei due tubi è pure dell'acqua calda e che non è coibentato ... quindi scalderà pure ...

Great job in explaining the basics to someone who uses your channel for education. Where can I find the Victron MultiPlus Compact 12/2000/80-30 230V VE.Bus Inverter Charger or something equivalent. I did not see this specific one on your page. I am looking to add solar to our travel trailer and will be ordering a few items in the near future. Thank you and keep it up.

We are in the middle of a van conversion and are concerned about our auto insurance. I am pretty sure our insurance company won'tb accept the modifications we have made. We have done nothing out of the ordinary. The most ambitious things are a new seat in back of van and solar on the roof. What auto insurance so you use for your converted van?

I’m looking at the components you have, all the tools that you have; and it is a crazy amount of money.
It’s a great hobby; but wow..

For a lot of us we want the solar set up for occasional camping, but don’t want to spend thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars.

Thank you for the video. I have a 5th wheel. It has two standard batteries in the front compartment. They’re standard batteries that are included. I want to add solar. Only time on my inverter is my refrigerator. It’s 12v only. Everything else is on the converter. Can I add solar to what I have or do I need to replace the inverter and bypass the converter like you have done? I would like to use what is there. Is that an option? Thank you.
