One concern: The Soulbond will never live as long as the steel dragon (example: An elf). Therefore, it is extremely likely that the Soulbond will be dead by the time the dragon enters Reflection, but it can only create one Soulbond in its lifetime. How do we reconcile this? My thought is that the status passes to the current Soulbond's descendant, or if they have none, their closest friend of a similarly long-lived race.

Steel, dragons are legit. Some of the most interesting creatures in any setting. The possibilities for writing are ridiculous.

The soul bond has to be indifferent to the dragon's changing characters across lives... Imagine being an elf, best friend of a venerable hero, only for 50 years later having the same guy burn towns to the ground 😂

Pretty cool but also what a waste of being a dragon. Do they literally ever do "anything" as a dragon except sleep to forget? It's like they are ashamed to be dragons

Another question: How does the dragon know it's time to vault? Do they simply choose to do so when their form becomes "old"? Why couldn't they choose to "die" (say, as a pirate) at an early age, sneak away, and vault into a new life? There seems to be no mechanism for this. I've created a steel dragon who was yanked into Toril from Greyhawk before it was 10 years old (it was about 6), so its training is incomplete and it has no idea how to Vault correctly. It doesn't even know it's supposed to refrain from changing into its true draconic form. It was just discovered by the PCs and became friends with them but decided to vault because it realized that something had gone wrong.

I feel a game based on silver dragons could be cool lots of replayabilty

So if a steel dragon is living a life of a common farmer, does that farmer retain the strength and durability of a dragon? I.e. if that farmer ends up being ambushed by bandits, will he/she eliminate all of them with a few punches, while shrugging off sword slashes and arrows to the chest? Or does the dragon somehow suppress those capabilities to make the farmer be truly ordinary?

So in short, they love Role Playing to the extreme?

Something Philosophical about these dragons, living countless lives but also not remembering that they've lived those lives at all. Was like watching a movie this one video, plot twist was when they vault and forget there mates and children. Feels almost analogous as the DM in the game.

So, Steels are Hardcore LARPers, they roleplay a life until it gets too old, then he gets a new character sheet...

I prefer the Silver's way of roleplaying, blend intu humanity but still being a Dragon.

quick question; How would you become a HALF steel dragon if their spawn is fully humanoid?

I can imagine that in some cases the Soul Bind could have been the spouse of the dragon in one of it's previous lives without the dragon realizing it.

Now that I think about it, even elves and dwarves have short lives compared to dragons and most of them would die of old age before the dragon, leaving them wihout anyone to spread their legacy... unless the Soul Bind happened to have a similar or bigger lifespan than a steel dragon, for example a disguised silver dragon...

I love this dragon, and I am thinking of playing a Steel Dragon in "The Black Ballad" campaign. One that went through all of thier lives and can't seem to recall how they ended up here. Because they should have went through all of the process and either became apart of IO or failed the test and is retaking his life lessons. But something must have happened during this point in thier life as they are here and with no memory. Did they end up having to Vault again? Do they actually have amnesia or are they dead? If they died, then how, because this is not what should have happened.

so Steel Dragons role play reincarnation and effectively became Avatar Spirits with an archive of lived mortal lives. Yeah I think its a plausible theory that Song Dragons are the result of a Steel Dragon and a Silver Dragon.

If they can only bond with ONE true friend in ALL their life, what if that person dies before the dragon? Who will spread his works of art?

I am immune to memory wipes, memory blocks, death, reincarnation, polymorphs into anything other my draconic form. I can only have my original shadow demon phoenix dragon goat form. I am the most highest god of all, and I can't be absorbed by anyone. Their judgments do not matter to me. I am immune to this vaulting ritual. I AM A DRAGON FOREVER.

He words it poorly in this video dragons dont exactly "become" humans they do turn themselves into humans like many other dragons they generally live as humans for a very long time but will get out of its polymorph if it needs to in combat however it will often live a very wealthy life its form of treasure is actually investments itll invest in businesses and property and it does care if its investment helps the business succeed they are by all means true dragons at all times and can always actively turn back into a dragon they generally just dont unless they are forced to

I can see a holliwood movie about a Steel Dragon. A human who doesnt know he is a Steel Dragon and when he turns 18 he gains the ability to be a humanoid. - guise empowerment and poly morphing etc.

A good BBEG would be a steel dragon that never "vaulted" and life has gotten to them and turned them into a sort of Thanos type mentality. Still neutral of sort as well. I think it would be epic.
