Glorfindel is on of the potential characters for LOTRonPrime that I'm most excited about! Which character that we've never seen on-screen before do you want to see the most?

That is why I have him in my party in the mod for Mount & Blade Warband, called The Last Days of the Third Age.

Glorfindel has a cool name, but that’s about it. Having Arwen rescue Frodo was a great improvement by PJ. Elf recycling isn’t a very attractive idea. In-story, there isn’t any ref to a first age existence in TLOTR. He did jack during the Angmar wars, or the war of the last alliance. A very minor character with no depth. Cool name though

as much of a good character he is he doesn’t really do anything except kill a balrog everything just flees when he arrives

Non-canon, but Glorindel is also the main character for Battle for Middle Earth 2! He's on the box cover with Gloin!

I know this is an old video, but during the war of the Ring, an RTS, Battle for Middle Earth 2, follows Gloin and Glorfindel’s campaign in the Northern wars.

What I don't understand is Elrond being hesitant to put Glorfindel in the fellowship because of his power and it not being stealthy having such a powerful elf there. But having Gandalf (an even more powerful being and a Maiar) there is fine?

So here is the thing, I am a HUGE fan of Glorfindel from the first age. But Gandalf mentioned to Frodo in Rivendell that not even Glorfindel and Aragorn fighting together would defeat all 9 Ringwraiths. That tells me Glorfindel might not be able to survive 5 Ringwraiths. But he defeated a Balrog. That is something that to me seems like there is a mismatch between the power level Glorfindel shows in the Fall of Gondolin and what is described in the Lord of The Rings. But I am not an expert, though I am a big enthusiast of Tolkien’s work.

Can you do a video on how powerful beings like Glorfindel or Gandalf „see“ the world in middle earth? For example: does Gandalf - during the Ring Council - always see Glorfindel in his true form?

That explains why they used Arwen for that scene in the film. Such a large character only used once in the entire trilogy, never to appear again would be a bit odd.

he don't travel back back to the west because his mission don't come to the end. He have the same mission as the blue wizard and that mission is not end yet

Glorfindel and Galadriel would have been a force for good and one to truly be reckoned with and a lot of the evil that took root and was allowed to grow in power would have never come too much had those two beings been together and on guard. Well it is what I would have loved to see! Sorry Lord Celeborn, but I think you would also agree?!...

My headcanon is that Sting was his knife that he took over the precipice with him. That's why it survived the fall of Gondolin

Glorfindel is such a great character. As someone who plays LotRO, I hope he sticks around and doesn't take the first ship back after the War of the Ring :)

Glorious is all I can describe Glorfindel, It's sad we never get to see him in the movie with the fellowship I wonder what speeches and words he might have to tell the hobbits like epic stories of when he was young and fought the other balrogs. Like when he saw Durin's Bane with Legolas and the other fellowships and when they arrive to LothLorien I wish he would tell Frodo the story when he once faced a Balrog and told how he also returned to the living that would give Frodo hope that maybe Gandalf might come back. Also would be fun to see who better bowman, Glorfindel or Legolas.

I remember reading the clash at the fords for the first time as a kid. In the narrative, it is the first time the reader--and the hobbits!--meet a high elf (and it was particularly powerful because I had not read the Silmarillion yet). The episode still gives me goosebumps!

Idk.. maybe glorfindel was cut from the movies because it would become strange that a guy like Glorfindel wasn't present on other moments of the story where secrecy wasn't a thing. If he were on the pelenor fields, or in other moments battle moments. The lacking of appearances would be odd in a movie... Even more because of his might...
