ОтветитьMy mother-in-law escaped North Korea and no one knew that she was from North Korea until after she passed away probably because she was so afraid of getting sent back even though she left when she was a literal baby.

ОтветитьPlease think before you expose details such as the route taken by immigrants. On other channels I also see people revealing details about what people have said when they’re still in N. Korea. Please remember her family is still there and there are many people trying to escape. What you revealed can effect others.

ОтветитьIt seems that her English is limiting her ability to express her thoughts. You would have gotten a much better story if the interview was conducted in Korean.

ОтветитьDamm i live in denver where she at i need her numbers 🥵
ОтветитьIt's amazing Evelyn and her mom were able to escape, but I can't help wonder WHY they left her brother?? I couldn't imagine leaving one of my kids behind in a place like that, especially when its clear that the brother is younger (possibly around 8-9 when they left). He probably felt so scared & alone. Now he'll likely never see his mom or sister again and have to serve his mandatory 10 year military time after he's done school. Heartbreaking.
ОтветитьHello, Evelyn. You are one of few lucky people who could escape from North Korea. I`m a Japanese national, and there used to be a lot of North Korean people in Japan. In 1950`s through 60`s, North Korea was a war-torn country, and suffered from shortage of manpower. So the North Korean regime solicited North Koreans in Japan to immigrate to North Korea. The Japanese government was willing to cooperate with North Korea because Japan wanted to expel North Koreans from Japan. Japanese mass media described North Korea as “Paradise on Earth” in order to deceive North Korean residents in Japan. From 1959 to 1984, more than 100 thousands North Koreans and about 700 Japanese spouses left to North Korea, and many of them are missing. (Probably many of them are already deceased.)
In addition, several hundreds Japanese people are kidnapped by North Korean agents since 1970`s, and its purpose is unknown. In 2002, North Korean dictator Kim Jong il conceded that North Korea was responsible for abduction of some Japanese people, and only 5 of them could return to Japan. North Korea is a hell on earth not only for North Koreans but also for other nations.
