I've used your recipe before and it worked well. I just made a batch and used some Behr acrylic latex paint (3 parts) and 1 part plaster of paris after making it a liquid paste with water (same consistency as in your video), but when I mixed in the paint its very thick and chaulky and I've mixed it up for 2 days with no changes, even added a tiny bit of water. What am I doing wrong this time? The paint is a few years old, but still liquid and no clumps. It worked so well the first time I did this for some frames I painted a year ago with a different paint I used. Thank you in advance for any recommendations.
ОтветитьThank you, 🎉🎉🎉this is awesome....so cheap in comparison to store bought little jars.
ОтветитьThanks 😊
ОтветитьThankyou! Is a jar that small jar enough paint for an end table?
ОтветитьHave you tried talk
ОтветитьI i want to make a whole tin of color how amount should I add the plaster of Paris
ОтветитьYour a good teacher thanks for the help
ОтветитьYour awesome .I love your tips .
Ответитьafter watching a couple other chalk paint recipes yours seems it would be the easiest. Looking forward to giving a try and also less expensive the ready made chalk paint 😊
ОтветитьYour tutorial is the best. Very clear instruction.
Ответить❤ it!!
ОтветитьCan I use chalk powder instead of plaster of paris
ОтветитьFor something less expensive try chalk line refill it works great.
ОтветитьThank you so much
ОтветитьI know that this video is old, but in case someone is looking for another coating option, I use Mod Podge. It comes in glossy or matte and is way cheaper than the other options.
ОтветитьThank you! New subbie here. Take care.
ОтветитьAnd also use one of the mini whisks. I use that to mix paint and it works great.
ОтветитьThanks for sharing. You are the first I have seen mix the P.O.P with water first! Makes so much more sense! I'm going to make my own now thanks to you! Blessings
ОтветитьWatched a few times, love it!
ОтветитьCould I use this recipe to paint the base of my slow cooker--it's so ugly--and thought this might adhere well and last during high heating?
ОтветитьCan you use this to paint an accent wall?
ОтветитьThank you ever so much
Mr. DIY Dork😊 for ur GREAT recipe on making chalk paint.. I’ve been wanting to use chalk at $25 n more I just cldnt do it..now the sky the limit..😂❤
Great on-point tutorial. Subbed. Can one use this paint with a reusable stencil?
ОтветитьThe paint has a water fraction. Adding Plaster of Paris to water activates the plaster other than that it sure seems like that is a lot of paint just to paint that little chunk of wood. We hope this dude doesn't give up his day job or develops a market for weighted Mason Jars.
ОтветитьI love this! I feel like all the chalk paint tutorials on YT are monetized by expensive chalk paint companies, and the paint is EXPENSIVE! Thank you so much for this hack. You rock!!
ОтветитьDo I have to prep first?
ОтветитьI tried this and it was a disaster! The paint turned into a gloppy mess, despite adding more and more water. What did I do wrong?
ОтветитьHi . I want to know what is plaster of Paris?
ОтветитьThe best way to make sure the plaster mixture doesn't stick to the sides or bottom is the add the plaster mixture to the paint, not add the paint to the plaster mixture.
ОтветитьShort and to the point, super clear....i love this!!! Im about to makeover all my stuff. Beautiful table
ОтветитьBEWARE: this will dry out super fast! I used the same ratio as the video and my paint was getting solid by the second end table (10 min tops). I had to add a lot of water to save the paint and what was applied was thick and chunky. I’ll have to sand off and paint with normal paint or actual chalk paint. No way you’re getting multiple coats before this hardens up on you.
ОтветитьGreat information!
ОтветитьCalcium carbonate does not dry out as quickly as plaster of Paris Andis actually a true chalk
Ответитьnow I want to know if I can make my own plaster of paris and use that. hmm
Ответитьawesome. so happy to find your channel
ОтветитьAbsolutely agree with most everyone, awesome tutorial and right to the point...Thx...
ОтветитьGreat video! Could you spary the paint with spary gun?
ОтветитьAwsome ty so much for this info ... this is my weekend diy project as well chalk paint . Didn't k ow it was so simple.and easy... lol ty so much
Ответитьturned out awesome. Great job!

ОтветитьThis Really helps po s because chalk paint is very expensive. Thanks a bunch. I just subscribed so I'm looking forward to all the cool techniques you have! Have a great day!
Ответитьvery cool
ОтветитьCan I do this on glass?
ОтветитьIf you use a gloss finish first then the matt finish you won't get the cloudiness. Learned this trick when I was restoring artwork after Katrina.
ОтветитьCan I use any kind of flat Latex paint? What about the WOOD to be painted does it require a paint before I apply CHALK PAINT?
ОтветитьCame for the paint. Stayed for the sweet tunes.
ОтветитьGreat video, thanks
ОтветитьThis might be a weird question but can you write with chalk on it, like a chalkboard?
ОтветитьGreat video! Thank you!
