Love the gold reflector disc. My ball head tripod works fine for panning. As long as camera is secured tightly. Tilt not bad either.

ОтветитьShort and sweet explanation of panning and tilting
ОтветитьThnx for explanation, good job(tilting my head)
Ответитьmusic???
ОтветитьBrownie points for the frying pan image on the laptop behind you, good sir.
Ответитьbut what's the dolly?
ОтветитьHello and thank you for making great videos! I'm thinking of buying the Velbon fluid head and I was wondering if there is a way I can mount it on my existing tripod.
It is basically a cheap Hama photography tripod whose head is not suitable for video since it's not fluid.
Can I combine both and if so, must I buy some kind of adapter or does it fit as it is?
Thanks in advance,
Mark
P.S. Last year I built a PVC light stand I saw in one of your videos and it turned out great. Thanks.
I was watching an segment from Vincent Laforet's INTRODUCTION TO FILMMAKING and he pointed out that paying left to right is more natural to the audience, while paying right to left can seem like the actor has a difficult path. I thought that was useful to know.
ОтветитьI like the swish pan
ОтветитьVisual puns. Nice.
ОтветитьI like this video of camera techniques! You should defiantly do lots more in the future! Great job!
Ответитьyou're a fucking idiot. Liked and subscribed
ОтветитьI look around the room by moving my eyes, I think it is very natural
ОтветитьVery good advice as always Scott. Still photo tripods are nice for their designed job, but not so much for videography involving movement. Note to anyone interested in videography....get a fluid-head tripod. Just get one. It will save you for years to come.
ОтветитьI can make that worse, try a geared head for camera movement. Good luck with that :P THE BEST for photography IMO, maybe the absolute worse for video, except maybe mounting your camera directly to the tripod with NO head so you have to move the tripod.
Also, a tip for smooth panning, even with a good fluid head, when you want a slow pan across a landscape maybe, don't use the arm, hold your hands on the head just where it turns and turn it slowly. I saw Philip Bloom do this, and tried it, it was awesome. I don't have a high end fluid head, but a descent one I think, the Manfrotto MVH500AH, and it does great with this technique.
I got a fluid head a couple months ago from a friend and I love it - I figured I would but never owned one until now
ОтветитьMy research on a "fluid head" came about when a friend of mine wanted to sell me his TV camera "fluid head" tripod. In my research I found that a 'true' fluid head has an adjustable orfuss that allows the speed of transferring the fluid to vary according to the 'setting' (of the fluid flow). I took it back to my friend and said his "wasn't a fluid head". He was hurt. To prove I was 'correct', I contacted a fluid head expert from Australia and his very first question of me was "How old are you anyway?" (I'm 75). I found out construction 'standards' change over time. I went back, apologized to my friend and bought it. ;-) It works GREAT!
ОтветитьA fluid head seems like it could be as valuable as the ZoomH1, which I now use almost daily. Thanks for the tips as always!
ОтветитьHaha.... A shot of a pan on your laptop in a video onpannibg.. :)
ОтветитьA longer tripod handle increases torque and gives a more smooth pan.

ОтветитьFIRST! That tripod looks just like my Bogen (mine is a 3046, too). It was at a thrift store for $125. I asked if she'd take $20 and she said, "YES!" I can't imagine working without it now. The fluid head is so nice (though it's not as nice as the one you have there). I also added the remote control from a Sony VCT-VPR1 tripod to the handle. Works out nicely.
