Why are potatoes planted at the bottom of the pot? When I planted mine I planted mine in the middle and a bit more towards the top … my potatoes all grew under the seed potato so planting it more towards the top gave more room for the potatoes to grow under the seed potato … wondering why the green sprouting tops are supposed to be buried as much as possible ?

Do you have trouble with critters eating your potatoes or potato greens? If so, how do you prevent this?

Hi! Love your videos! When you are covering 2/3rds each way as the plant emerges (before it reaches the top), are you also covering the new growth and then waiting for the green leaves to emerge? How long does that take approximately? Thanks!

In this video, and the previous one (starter vid), you didn't put bone meal in top like you did the "other" 5 gallon potato video ... So do you need it, or was it missed, or did I miss it? Just wondering if you used it in these bigger containers. Thanks 😊

I really miss living in FL!
I’m in the desert 🌵
I’ve learned a lot from your videos!
We have to pump water from our creek to water so we have a different process to conserve water. We are at 6900 ft elevation so we have a very short growing season, so we have green houses to maximize our season.
My doggies watch with me & they bark when they hear your dog!
Very relaxing! Time together!
God’s blessings !!

Hollis & Nancy, I'm planting my potatoes today. When they grow above the soil level....do I cover it completely with soil? Or do I leave the leaves exposed?
I hope you'll be able to answer.
Thank you.

Hello! I’ve successfully grown potatoes outside in my garden. I really want to try this. Less weeding. And more garden space for other things. I have a couple questions please. We are in ND. Short growing season. I have spuds in my basement that I grew last year. Many are getting sprouts. If it was nice out I could plant them outside. I have big buckets like this from cow licks. Seems the perfect size. Can I try to plant them now indoors in a south facing big sunny window. And then move the pail outside when it’s nice enough in May I am thinking just two buckets. So I’d have some earlier potatoes than I usually do. And then when nice enough I’ll do more plants outside in pots and the ground. Also we have bunnies. In your other video you used cow manure fertilizer. But I have tons of bunny berries I hear are good for fertilizer. So I’m curious if I can mix potting soil with the bunny berries.
And then we put up here for our cows so could I just use some of that instead of buying the mulch or the straw that you’re using
