Way am I thinking football field during this😂😂😂😂😂😂thank you. I needed this info. I always thought to fertilize before coving with soil
ОтветитьDo what happens if the Iris has no roots? Is it destined to die? I’ve probably bought twenty something irises many with no roots and everyone of them has died. I’m at a loss. I love irises but they apparently don’t love me.
ОтветитьIris was my very first plant given to me, and it has been my very favorite plant. ❤
ОтветитьThanks for sharing as I have learned something new and need to check and possibly adjust my irises that have beautiful, lush green fan blades that are over 30" that have yet to produce a single bloom in Zone 9B.
ОтветитьI need to know how to winterize the irises. I live in Nampa, Idaho. Your in Colorado which gets snow like here. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
ОтветитьThank you
ОтветитьHow much sun should irises get?
ОтветитьI have irises in the back garden that are in too much shade that never bloom. I’ve lived in to his house for five years. Never bloomed. They were here when I moved in. Obvious question. Are they not getting enough sunlight.? Maybe an hour a day.
ОтветитьGreat Video! How do you keep squirrels away from the bulbs? Thank you!
ОтветитьYou are lovely and I found this very informative 😊 Thank you very much
ОтветитьI have grown iris for years. I would have separated the two iris, cut off the mother rhizome & cut the leaves into a fan shape to keep them from falling over. The one on the left looks like it is two iris. You do keep the top of the rhizome on top of the soil, make a little mound to put the roots in the ground & I also trim the roots a bit.
Ответитьawsome video…..thank you!
ОтветитьInformative video, today I planted 2 rizomes.
ОтветитьI cant see oo well on my tiny phone as to how much soil is over the rhizomes (?sp)
How many inches 0of soil would you say are over them and should they ever be above the soil at all?
Thank you so much your video was very helpful 😊
ОтветитьThank you
ОтветитьI have been a little frustrated because my iris have never bloomed. Thank you for your video. My iris are dug too deep. Now I can fix the problem. ❤
ОтветитьBest planting video for Iris. Thank you and now I know exactly why I am not getting a lot of blooms or none at all. I'm going to dig up all my Iris and replant them. I've been planting too deep and mulching on top of the rhizomes.
ОтветитьSo the rhizome is barely covered. What if watering then exposes it? What type of sun, partial shade am I looking for? Recently moved to NC and this yard has a lot of iris that are overgrown and in complete shade. The trees have grown and changed the light for the iris. Thanks for your great video. ❤Mary
Ответитьthank you so much for this video :)
Ответить❤
ОтветитьHello: thank you for your very interesting and informative video. After listening to you, I realized that I planted my iris too deep; the rhizomes were fully covered in dirt and mulch. I replanted them immediately leaving a bit of the rhizome exposed. I am really looking forward to when it blooms, and I thank you again. I hope you have more planting videos to help amateur gardeners like myself.
ОтветитьI had a suspicion that the reason a few irises weren't blooming was because I planted them too deep, and your helpful video confirmed it. Thanks!
ОтветитьMine is in pots and are Not flowering. Any suggestions?
ОтветитьThis was best video imo for irises
ОтветитьI heard you had to keep the bearded iris rhizomes above the ground so I placed them on the soils surface fully exposed with their roots underground. They never flowered for me. I have no idea why misinformation like that even existed in the first place.
I'm going to try planting mine like this in the future. Thank you!
Thank you. Excellent presentation
ОтветитьExcellent video. The camera angle was perfect, too.
ОтветитьI had big beautiful white ones
ОтветитьOur irises Grow in water on the edge of the pond, and in water containers and doing very well
ОтветитьVery informative video. It helped a whole lot with understanding the concept of these plants.
ОтветитьI’m not a fan of this plant only because of the 3 fans I have better luck with gladiolus bulbs…..
ОтветитьBest iris video ever!
ОтветитьYour hair is gorgeous, I love it.
ОтветитьWhen is the best time to plant irises? I live in the St Louis MO area.
ОтветитьRegrettably my german shepherd wanted to play ball with me and stuck his head through my garden fence and ripped my newly blooming irises to get my attention. 😢
ОтветитьThank you so much for explaining this method. I have lots of iris but never had any flower. I will go and dig them up and replant as suggested. Wish me luck and thanks again.🤞
ОтветитьThank you thank you thank you!! Wonderfully done video that I needed badly!!!
ОтветитьYour video is very thorough and helpful. Thank you.
ОтветитьI am Bichitra and from Balurghat, West Bengal, India. In this Subtropical region I have succeeded in growing Bearded iris under shade cloth. They are healthy. Thanks.
ОтветитьI pulled some iris plants from my backyard, there is not rhizome, just the roots....what gives
ОтветитьExcellent video , thank you ! I planted mine last year as per your instruction and iris did well and bloomed 😁
Ответитьyay thanks for tips :)
ОтветитьExcellent video. Awesome job. Very knowledgeable.
ОтветитьOnce I plant my iris can I leave them in the ground all year long?
ОтветитьThank you. To show how correctly to put iris to in the ground
ОтветитьI have an iris that grew and flowered but then I discovered the entire center rhizome was mushy and rotting. The smaller rhizomes on the sides barely have any roots and I already removed the rotting center and dipped the rhizomes in a 1/10 bleach/ water solution but there’s not a lot rhizome or roots left on the other parts. So i have a few questions. Should I water it again after I plant it? Do I remove the leaves and flower stalks, even the ones that are still not open?
ОтветитьThank you so much for this video! You are a great teacher! Can’t wait to get out there and transplant my Iris plants.🪴
ОтветитьI've been planting irises since the age of 14 so 10 years from now and I have 16 different breeds. I thin it out every year because it multiplies very quickly and pass them on to another happy gardeners.
Do you have any tips on when to use fertilizer? In autumn, when transplanting, turned into the ground?
Greets from Hungary!
2 years ago, at the end of Summer, after watching many tutorials how divide and re-plant irises, I dug out all my irises, because they were way too crowded. I discarded all rhizomes that had already bloomed as per the tutorials. I was under the impression that each rhizome will produce flower bearing stalk only once. I gave away many good rhizomes to friends and quickly re-planted the rest in the same flower bed that they came from, where they did extremely well for about 10 years. I followed the instructions how to prepare the mounds and I let the roots straddle the mound and I proped up the fan from behind, by firming up the soil behind it and I trimmed the leaves. I thought that I was doing everything correctly. Next Spring I saw new leaves and even new baby fans, but not a single flower. I checked with my friends and their re-plants did not bloom either. How much time do the divided irises need to recuperate? Is there any chance that they might start blooming this Spring? Before I dug them out to divide them, they used to be very exposed. They were literally crawling over each other above the ground. It was a big tangled mess. But they seemed to be happy. They don't look happy now that they are spaced out. Do you think that I should try gently scraping off some of the thin layer of soil that is covering the rhizomes?
