The easiest way to see if its a diamond ,is put a blue light on it. The diamond will absorp the light and becones blue. The fake wil becomes white.

If you wonder why hard materials are brittle - it's exactly because they are hard - the chemical bonds are short, giving very little 'wiggle room' to distribute kinetic enegy - like a duct tape being very strong unless you bite it, then it rips instantly.
For extreme strength one needs sheet copolymer (carbon loves to make planar structures) that has relatively strong bonds and is flexible enough to absorb the hit. This is why aramide (or Kevlar) is used to make bullet proof helmets and vests.

Serious mistake, please get this clear: A REAL DIAMOND IS EXTREMELY FRAGILE; A SINGLE BLOW WITH A HAMMER WILL SHATTER IT INTO TINY PIECES. YES, IT IS HARDNESS 10 ON THE MOHS SCALE, AND IT CAN ONLY BE SCRATCHED BY ANOTHER DIAMOND. A HAMMER DOES NOT SCRATCH A DIAMOND; IT SHATTERS AND BREAKS IT. Goodbye.

I'd just like to say that doing the flame test isn't exactly a smart way of doing it unless you have a lot of money because the cubic zucchinium keep execution 3 and a 1/2 carrot diamond I just found in my driveway is now shattered and probably worth a s*** could have priced all that for about 350 bucks or more put down to do your flying test you know I aint got s*** You all suck

i would say only fire test is the most legit test

Waste of money to invest dimond , buying would be expensive but when comes to selling not many people could mak eany profit or find some one wwilling to buy it even when you trying to sell easly could swich with fake dimond by willing Buyers .
