Trains with interiors designed to be hosed down, says a lot about the expectation of the operator ! London tube trains have sprung fabric covered seats ! I wonder why ?
ОтветитьI've just returned from a trip to NY and I found the subway baffling. I'm so used to the detailed route lists that are highly visible on or leading into every London tube platform, but that doesn't seem to be a thing in NY. Thankfully, all the people I asked for help were more than pleased to assist. Some even offered help without being asked when they saw me looking confused. 😕😄
ОтветитьA very informative and helpful video!
ОтветитьHow can I get from Manhattan to Barclays center ? Someone pls help I’m in Union square
ОтветитьWhat is a air train?
ОтветитьHe didn't say why you don't want to be in a car that is empty
ОтветитьLife no or know
ОтветитьBut how do I know if my destination is uptown or downtown from where I am?
ОтветитьI love your video is awesome
ОтветитьMTA in Latin means we are lazy, inept, rude and unprofessional. Became a twisted NYC attraction, check out how shtty the system is.
ОтветитьGoogle maps is a lifesaver. I tried using apple maps and it was a pain. But google maps tells you exactly what you need to take

ОтветитьMost important, you don't want to appear as a tourist, put away jewelry, ear buds, except your smartphone because we have criminals still. I was born up here, lived in the times when Times Square was a sesspool, and even now crime still exists. Obtain Street smarts. I never in 55 years been pickpocket, robbed because I didn't look like a tourist, wear jewelry, expensive jewelry. Bring small bills, change, and debit card.
ОтветитьIn New York now for the first time. I've done underground systems all over the world, and I can categorically say the New York subway is a complicated horrific mess. So confusing, no real flow to it, sometimes knowing the number and colour of the line is no help in getting on the right train.
I have no idea how the Americans have made it so complicated. The signs are a garbled mess and nothing flows.
And this is not coming from a big city novice...like I say, I've travelled the world and been on many an underground system. Even Japan's is more straightforward and that's in a different language 😂
Imho, they need to totally scrap the current system and start from scratch. There MUST be a better system. I mean how can you get on a train knowing its the correct number, correct colour, even going the correct way and not know if the train is stopping at your stop? How on earth can the right line, right colour, right number and right direction train have so many variables as to where it does and doesn't stop...in ALL other underground systems throughout the world, the line simply stops at every stop...easy, simple.
Been in NY 4 days now and I'm still not confident using it..whereas I took to Londons after the first time using it, as its simple, same with Paris, same with Tokyo, same everywhere.
They really need to start from new and make it better. But then again this is New York, and most people, including those who designed this mess of a subway system, are on Marijuana.
I know this is mentioned about 6 different times but for the love of god, pay close attention to the boards/signs!!

ОтветитьCan you make another video explaining how OMNY works and also using the Subway system.
I have a low IQ and struggle to understand it. We need a here be barr channel for dummies 😂
So if I use OMNY for a careless payment I can let 1 other person through with me?
well John & all, until Metrocard is fully replaced by OMNY, the Metrocard is better. Theres many people out there (including me) who ride the subway/local buses on a monthly basis & buying 12 sets of 30-day Unlimited Ride metrocards in a year is way more of a savings & cost efficient than buying 52 sets of 7-day Unlimited Ride metrocards👇
52 sets of 7-day Unlimited Ride metrocards ($34 per week x 52 weeks = $1,768 a year). 12 sets of 30-day Unlimited Ride metrocards ($132 per month x 12 months = $1,584 a year), this saves passengers $184 per year when using the 30-day unlimited over 52 sets of 7-day Unlimited’s. It’s even more of a savings when buying 12 sets of 30-day Unlimited Ride metrocards & comparing that to tapping with OMNY👇
12 sets of 30-day unlimited ride metrocards over OMNY is a savings of $225.6 per year ($132 per month x 12 months = $1,584),
tapping with OMNY ($34.8 per week x 52 weeks = $1,809.6)
The MTA is wrong for eventually taking away the monthly unlimited rides, they must've figured out this had more value than the 7-day unlimited & OMNY
Hi, I’m going in less than a week! Hopefully someone sees this. Are the 7day unlimited cards still being sold?
Ответитьtwo mistakes here; the globe that he mentioned has two colors. All green meaning open 24/7 and top green and bottom white meaning open during certain hours.
I remember coming home from a car service gig I had to take the subway. As I entered the station through the turn gate I wasn’t aware that that the local train wasn’t stopping at my station! It was late and I couldn’t get out of the station because the turn gate only operates in one direction only, so I was forced to cross over the tracks take the train back into the city and cross back over to take the train home! Never did that again! Got home after 2am!
I’m a situational awareness person. I don’t like having anything interrupt or get in the way of my surroundings. I stay alert at all times while riding the subways. I wear earplugs to reduce the noise but never cancel them. I pay attention to my surroundings and observe people and their behaviors. For me, living in NY is more about survival than anything else
ОтветитьYeah I’m still confused. Might just use the QM busses
Ответить@herebebarr we're going to be going for our first time. Arriving sunday morning and leaving wednesday morning. So is the omny unlimited pass the best thing for us? Itll be just my wife and I.
ОтветитьFor the land mass of nyc its one of the best in world in terms of reliability and cost.
ОтветитьEven for JFK airtrain, you can still "Tap and Go" I think?
ОтветитьI have a better idea don’t go there
ОтветитьFind the Subway alot worse to navigate than the london tube not much information in the Subways
ОтветитьYou going to fast it's kind of hard to follow your video.
ОтветитьWhat is your recommendation for a ten-day transport in NY?
Ответитьwhat unlimited metrocard would you reccomend for commuting
ОтветитьThanks!
Mastered this video and I did well!
Thanks. Thanks.
So here’s my question… We will be traveling as a family of four. So that means I can tap my phone four different times to get us all on the subway. But how long will I have to wait before I could use my phone again for a different subway ride?
ОтветитьWhere do you get a metro card
ОтветитьHi, I'm catching the trains from JFK to Jersey City at midnight on a Wednesday night. Is it safe or do you recommend a Taxi?
ОтветитьYo this is useful for family members who are tourists who wants to explore on their own. This is a great guide video you can give them to learn to traveling in the city more better.
ОтветитьOne thing that made me very uncomfortable when I travelled on the subway (some years ago but i imagine it still happens) is people getting on, maybe doing some kind of performance (eg singing or preaching etc) and then going down the car asking for money. What's the best way to deal with that?
ОтветитьI keep seeing people say don’t get on an empty car… why is that? I’m bringing my kids and don’t want any surprises.
ОтветитьIs there Internet coverage to access Google Maps from inside the stations and trains?
ОтветитьVery helpful, thank you.
ОтветитьBack to the future is fantastic!!! Defo should head out there to see it. 100% recommended
ОтветитьHi, When explaining the Airtrain at JFK, you said the metrocard is a souvenir, and you don't need this, you explained in the future, you may be able to pay contactless, is there any other option for the Airtrain now?
ОтветитьGood stuff, Jon. A have a question: We have a friend who has a "senior" metro card. My wife and I are in our 70's, so that would fit us perfectly. However, when we go on the metro website or visit a station, no one seems to know anything about it (thought one attendant said they no longer issue them; I think he just didn't want to be bothered). So, does the senior metro card still exist? If so, how can we get one? We're visiting NYC at the end of this month.
ОтветитьI never thought I’d say this, but playing Spider-Man 1/MM/2, has helped me envision the districts, I knew exactly what he was referring to when saying Harlem, queens, financial district, etc. purely from the game. Woop woop
