La Rioja Alta!! You just blew my mind already! This video is amazing… Bottles at 25 dollars from astonishing producers, reviews of each wine, vintages, regions, vinification rooms, winemaking process, ratings, gorgeous images edited, delightful descriptors, tips about food pairing and how to keep the ideal temperature while having the wine… What a precious range of Wines and Tips!! Am I missing anything? Oh yess! A great extra tip: Ha! To go to a bar while waiting for my room to be ready. I’ll try that Mendel from Argentina tonight. Thank you so very much John!! It’s very interesting that they are using new oak in this one! Santé
ОтветитьLove these options. I’ll have to try them.
Ответить¥6200 online, Amazon, Japan.
ОтветитьBig ups on the Penfold’s and Muller Catoir, stellar estates and wines that are fairly readily available. Good call on Nizza, I absolutely love the expression of Barbera there
ОтветитьHave you tried colome estate Malbec ? Highly recommend best Malbec I’ve ever drank
ОтветитьLe Volte is very nice! Have had many bottles, again not $25 here. Not a fan of tempranillo. For reasonably priced Sangiovese I prefer Fontodi the 2019 is very very nice! Great recomdations!
ОтветитьPenfolds bin 28 Shiraz is $50 here! We are paying all the taxes added to the cost of any wine here! So to be $25 here it would have to be a $12 bottle in the U.S.
ОтветитьFrom Down Under, Jansz, Arras, Pirie and Clover Hill are my go-to sparklling as they have ridiculous values as not many people has heard of them. I would recommend Powell & Son, they make complex entry level wines as well. The only problem is they might not be widely distributed as it is hard for me to find them in store.
Also a quick question: what does racking wine by candlelight do?
And please keep making these videos, they helped me a lot as a beginner getting into wine👍
Nice tips. Thanks.
ОтветитьI was literally searching online while watching this video. So helpful; well-researched, packed with excellent information, and so insightful, aside from being superbly written. I’m in total agreement with you about Ornellaia La Volte Dell' Ornellaia. Enjoyed a bottle recently! And I want to get another one soon. As for Penfolds, I always take for granted this wine because it’s ubiquitous in many stores here. Yet I do love Penfolds Grange, as you know. Thank you for recommending one that’s good yet more affordable and practical for everyday indulgence. I’ll have to look for your recommended Bin 28 though; the ones I’m seeing online here are 2017’s. Checking out the others (in online shops) mentioned in your selection, too! Such a great video! I know you drink the best wines but you also appreciate wines with excellent QPR, and I truly appreciate that you always share your favorites and new finds here on YT. Santé, John!
ОтветитьGreat take about the Mendel ! Don’t think you will find this wine in the USA, cause it’s not of high production . But is one of my go to “cellar defenders” here in Brazil ! Cheers !
ОтветитьJohn , I was surprised with the bin 28 last week ! It was much more fresh and fruit than the usual and evolve in the glass beautifully ! You nailed ! Cheers !
ОтветитьGreat job with your choices. Very nice range of options from various regions.
ОтветитьTasmania, not Tazmania.
ОтветитьThanks John, added a couple more wines to the to buy list.
ОтветитьYour videos are really worth a watch!
ОтветитьThanks for the recommendations! Just ordered 4 bottles of the 2018 La Rioja Alta Vina Alberdi Riserva for approx 18,5 USD/bottle here in Norway. Have tried the 2011 890 earlier and have the 2011 904 in the cellar. Looking forward to try out the cheaper alternative from that producer.
ОтветитьSome good recommendations here, John. Jansz is great value here in the UK too - £15 on special offer from my local supermarket (shouldn't it be Tasmania?). La Rioja Alta is excellent. The Wine Society offers some special cuvees, especially in non-stellar years: I have one bottle of 2013 left and a case of 2018 yet to be started. I bought some 2011 Mauvasin-Barton from TWS a few years back and it was fine in my view. Not tried it since.
Talking of Piedmont and TWS, I am currently enjoying a Wine Society Exhibition 2012 Barolo, made by Silvano Bolmida for them from his holding in Bussia - drinking perfectly right now.
Field recording super gnario, 18 bucks for a Nebbiolo barbera blend from cali. It’s definitely great at the price, and a fun wine
ОтветитьNice review and appreciate the diversity of regions. Honestly, I really do. I enjoy wine from all over the planet. The reason I rave about Spain is because I truly believe wine from that country is fantastic value. It's noticeable that many bodegas are releasing superb entry level wine and I think that is to encourage sales within the country. Protos have a delightful release of Protos Roble which is aged in French oak. It's available everywhere in Spain and costs $10 euros. Muga have released a similar bottle which is also great value. People are drinking less wine in Spain and I think these cheap but quality expressions are meant to address that decline.
ОтветитьLove Tasmania sparkling…. Jansz is lovely for that price and I think the ones from Clover Hill rival many non vintage big name houses in champagne. Thank you again for a great list.
ОтветитьFantastic recommendations. I just found Chateau Lilian Ladouys for $20/bottle and would personally add that to the list.
ОтветитьEnjoyed the video on the quality/value wines today, have tried the Nizza Barbera and it is excellent. Thanks for the interesting videos! Saluto Dennis!
ОтветитьExcellent video with an awesome recommendations! 9 exceptional wines from outstanding producers. I enjoy listening to your descriptions and information. A very well presented. I’ve never seen anyone do it better. I would like to try some of these wines. Thank you for always sharing your professional knowledge and expertise! Cheers John! Have a terrific Sunday!
ОтветитьThank you for doing excellent research, on these budget friendly wines🍷
ОтветитьNice video and nice price point to do some exploring! My local retailer appears to have at least a couple of these available on first glance.
Still,I’m always somewhat pleased with myself when I already know of and have enjoyed of some of your recommendations (Fontenil, le Volte in this case).
