The thing is the people who are talking about racism in Finland tend to be finnish born people... and ofcourse there is some racism in every country. (including South-Africa). But for the most part people are not RACIST they just don't like how certani groups act and behave and looking at France and Sweden... can we really blame people being worried. It is sad that a guy like you might get in the midle of this thing that has nothing to do with you :/ I hope everything goes well for you, I really do. You seem like a good person and I don't think every immigrant should be threted as an entity but rather as individuals.

Eh, there are approximately three categories of people that come here according to those who were born to parents of the Finnish stock. Immigrants, no problem there, refugees, some problems there and welfare benefit seeker gold diggers, a lot of problems there. One of the problems is: only after a long and serious conversation with most of the people is one upgraded from any category to the next and even then if you are upgraded to immigrant, there still exists the loop between immigrant and welfare benefit seeker that goes on and on. Refugees are in some minds the second best category because for some yet to materialize factor most of those people are supposed to go back to their lands after the conflict, but it rarely happens.

Well, you are a decent and smart person so I imagine you know that some groups of immigrants are committing a lot of crimes, they despise native population and live on benefits. Same thing is happening all over Europe. France, UK, Germany, Sweden, Netherlands etc. are being destroyed by failed immigration policy. Bad immigrants tarnish the reputation of good immigrants, so a stricter immigration policy is beneficial to the native population and also to the good immigrants.

It's always these black dudes talking about Europe, is like, you don't have your own continent? What are you doing in a land that doesn't belong to you ? Talking about who is racist not. Dude your Afrika is the most racist continent, not just the Arab side but the black one the most. You need diversity, just black people living in Central afrika ? How racist is that. Oh but Europe can't be 100% white like it used to be for the last 30000 years. Go back. Black people is so smart that they don't need white people to survive. 😂😂😂😂

What irritates me as someone that lived for the last 40+ years in Finland is that Xenophobia is seen as racism. Like look how we sit in busses, we do not like to share space with strangers. Someone then coming from the outside here demanding that I should respect their culture but calls mine racist. That makes me boil because since a child I was thought that you take the culture according to where you go, you never demand that the other culture should adjust to yours.

I was born here and this is my home, the other one coming here always has the option not to come here because they have already left their home.

I have many good experiences with foreigners but I also have many bad ones. Elderly people are usually wiser so they know not to demand me to change who I am. I have met nice foreigners that only came here for benefits and I do understand that someone chosing between loosing their eye sight or move to another country to keep it will probably chose the better option even if it means that they will leech on the system because their injury makes em unable to contribute. I do not like the freeloaders that comes here and thinks its their right to leech and bad jobs are below them.

I still remember when a muslim sat on TV and demanded that we should build a "whatever that shouting tower is" in Finland because its their right. He just forgot that its every finns right not to be awaken by a religion in a country that ain't even religious. It was a fun experience when I went to Turkiye as a tourist to experience their culture, but having one close to me and I would tear it down. Same with allowing foreign cultures do things that not even I am allowed to do, creates only anger within people.

That all said: It's not really the personal fault of one foreigner, in reality it's the fault of the leaders trying to appease foreigners instead of showing a firm hand "If you move here then you live like us and you do like us", you are free to be yourself as long as it doesn't collide with our rules and laws. Now they change laws to appease em and try to create a fake picture.

We are Xenophobes that forces you to earn our trust and best way to do it is to work hard and be honest. Like I still respect the Russian from work because he was honest and worked hard.

We splurged on national debt for a while so it's going to get cold for a lot of people. Not too happy about the current government coalition but it's a stick that was coming our way. I think a lot of Finns are happy to have anyone in who at least tries to assimilate to the culture to some degree and works hard.

You have a great flow and attitude, i think you could make it anywhere, definitely in Finland. Spot on with your observations. I live in France and i must say Finland should be careful how to play the immigrant card. I see here some individuals integrate well some not, nothing to do with race, but certainly religion and culture. Example from this week, kids started school this week and first huge controversy, muslims traditional abaya costume was banned at schools(as the law goes, no religious signs at school), muslims got upset and nobody is happy, i think school uniforms are making their way, which i think is an cultural change not welcome as this country is known for fashion and clothing and it is part of the national identity(people tend to be well dressed starting young age). Immigration is also financial question, what i see here in France is society, where the "social" cost is getting huge and the rest of the "system" is under stress, like justice system (for small crimes like burglary or assault, it's not unusual that police has not time to investigate and there is no pursuites ), school system is inequal, police is quite bad(huge turnover in big cities, around 10%/year, hard to find new recruit, bad salary and working conditions), healthcare system is also under pressure, inequal, depends a lot where you live. Keep up the good content.

Our new goverment isn't good for anybody who gets less than 3000€/month from job. Or if you don't have job right now it's going to be cold ride (even colder than jannuary). We just have to hope that they find little bit of humanity in them before it's too late. Respect for you, keep it up!

Being a Finn in Finland is hard enough nowadays, so I can only imagine all the problems immigrants might have. The craziest thing is that the current sorry-ass government wants to "fix the economy" with immigration but at the same time they are making life situation for immigrants harder then ever.

Some of the polarized name calling etc I am sure if Russian/Chinese (on behalf of Russia) information warfare but it also seems to me that parties from center to left have adopted intentionally misunderstanding the opposite POV and moved to American style mud flinging politics even in matters like NATO that in my opinion should not be very divisive.

Totally understandable if the current government confuses you after we just had one of the most progressive governments before this. I think a lot of Finns were a bit taken aback by it too. I know I wasn't happy to find out that half of the people in my town voted for conservative parties >_>

I gotta say I hate the old notion of 'immigrants are just living off of our social benefits'. Sure, some are, but so are a lot of Finns. It's just so much easier for politicians to make it about immigrants specifically.

Honestly new party in power is pretty annoying. It's really part of the classic infuriating trend of people moving to right/conservative side when there are economic/social unrest.
It's basically response to retreat to where you are most comfortable and cling into what you have and know. Since that's "safe", and people want feeling of safety, or something external to blame so you can feel more comfortable.
Honestly this is so predictable if you look at the history, which makes it so much more annoying. It's not that I don't have issues with some aspects of migration, but I just think it's overall good, thing, and we need to do it better, like everything. Migrants especially in Finland are just such an small party of population and economy that focusing on that as some solution to any problem is kinda ridiculous, mostly talking about reducing immigration. Reduction is just not going to solve anything. But it's classic popular political point for reason, it works on people. Again annoyingly.

This is why I think we need actual political and economical education included in basic education, so that we can navigate and understand these systems we live in better, and not get caught up in rhetoric and charged environment like now with all the crisis going on. Sometimes I just feel like education is bit too focused on turning us into good workers, not effective members of society financially and politically. Obviously, being good worker is huge part of that, but being able to understand basic systems that govern your life, finance and politics, is super important as well.

For me every single one like you are more than welcome to Finland! Government should realize that we need immigrants to come work here both lower level jobs and in jobs that require high level of expertice. What comes to those that are only interested in social security and have zero motivation to go forward, they just don't work here. Economy is bad enough already. Something has to be done to integration system to make sure that for example assylum seekers have possibility to provide for themselves. Of course it doesn't take away the problem that some people may still just lay back and just enjoy the benefits. Tricky questions, hard political discussions. Either way there is no room for racisim whatsoever. Keep on the good work and great video! 😎

The current government's stance toward immigration is so antithetical to the entire Finnish ethos. These people supposedly sitting back and riding the dole have gone through the most intense circumstances imaginable, and against their will have been thrust into a strange land where everyone views them as outsiders. They had the wherewithal to survive war and famine and genocide but somehow they're not good enough to join us? They embody sisu far more than most native Finns.

From an assimilation standpoint, the government gives financial help without investing in selling the culture. Immersion classes and an overall attitude shift among the populace could go a long way toward positive outcomes. On top of that, how do we expect someone to achieve success when we place arbitrary requirements for language proficiency, even knowing our mother tongue is foreign to all others? Mayor Variainen's idea of making Helsinki an English-language city could be incredibly helpful.

We cling to language as if it is what makes us Finnish, when Sisu would still be Sisu by any other name. All of this is racism and nationalism cloaked in pragmatism.

The left wing parties have an incentive to magnify and really focus on anything wrong the new right wing government does. And because the Finns Party have couple of racists among them, that will be of course amplified in the social media. In real life they have nuance, but politics is a performance art...

But don't worry - it will usually slowly pass as we get further away from the election. The critique will focus more on boring budgetary things.
