It's all to do with the cosmetics the phone that does everything looks shit but the cool looking phones aren't as practical nowadays only for making phonecalls and texting

I have the phone and text fine. Use T9 to text faster. Texts can be grouped with multiple people. The only group chat I am in for work. It sometimes takes a bit for the message to open from groups/ pics.

If it takes 15 mins to text, wouldn’t it be quicker and easier to phone? Keep dumb phone texts short, and turn off predictive text.

Actually I don't mind the grainy photo/video quality that much. It gives me that vintage vibe. lol

This Alcatel is genuinely cool! It's probably as cool as the Motorola RAZR, but with bigger keys and with a chat-like layout for the Text messages. And that clap sound from closing the flip is so satisfying, something that not even foldable smartphones can give us!

The thing is, I’m 23 and wish I could fully switch to a cellphone; but I have my banking apps, insurance, petrol price lock app, my SIM card tracking app, my Waze, things I need that you can’t get on a cellphone. As well as my Spotify I use to play on the speaker at work. If I didn’t have all that, I’d have switched by now. I wish there was a way around it.

Alcatel smartflip AT&T still has Google asistent so you can dictate sms. I am using my unlocked one while traveling so if it gets stolen it won't be a big deal.

From another perspective, wow - modern flip phones seem to be more limited than the older features phones, like the N95, on some things.

If it wasn't for Whatsapp and Messenger to keep in touch with people, I could probably switch to one of these phones easily as I don't use social media much

2023 here, personally I find it easier to use a flip phone with hotspot, and carry my tablet when I need navigation, it’s literally just the smartphones that we have the most problems with tbh

To be fair, you are using a model of phone which is not particularly highly reviewed, on am Operating System which has made major strides since 2021, but is not really considered to be up to par yet.

I always am fascinated by Americans talking about text messaging because this is something that nobody in my country has used for like 10 years or more. This feels like ancient tech to use, the only current use for it we have is receive automated update SMSs and 2FA, but we NEVER send them (except maybe for the odd contest or two, like Eurovision)

I use both. Just forward my smart to the flip when I want a break.

I don't have socials or use my phone for really anything else but talking. As a 90s kid, I miss the simple times before these smartphone apps and socials got out of hand. I'll likely switch back to a flip phone and trade in my current one for a 5G tablet for traveling.

FOR FASTER TYPE THERE SHOULD BE IN SETTINGS T9 MODE

Buy a camera, use the navigation system inside your car, no sweat. Without using a smartphone and to listen to music buy a iPod or use your smartphone as a iPod.

I’m thinking about doing this very soon to save money. The smartphone only eats your pockets, mental and time. It’s time for a change.

I live in a very rural area, where digital phone reception is pathetically poor, and that has been a blessing in that it keeps me from spending too much time on my phone.

just get a gps to put in your car and carry a notebook with you to write stuff when u need to. and have a book of names and addresses and directions
