Of note: the 3DS's GBA Virtual Console is not a softmare emulator! It actually uses a hardware-level compatibility mode derived from the original DS's GBA mode. It's running natively!

This is a bit old, but yes. The 3DS has pretty stellar emulation for GBA. Incredibly modular, from what I hear..


It's why I don't think this is likely, but 3DS' do technically come in underclocked from their full CPU ability. This usually won't cause problems and most big name devs account for this, as I believe it was a choice to intentionally throttle processing to give the 3DS more battery life, something that was a genuine concern with the DSi -> 3DS jump, especially with the new 3D feature.

Installing CFW, preferably through Luna, will allow you to bring up a setting on 3DS boot to bring the 3DS to full clockspeed. There are zero negatives to this aside from the occasional game who REALLY didn't think there'd be a 3DS out there running the full ~240hz(?).

The underclock can be especially bad on those GBA games that really wanted to push the limits of the GBA. Think Golden Sun/Age of Man summons and how extravagant they were.

Mannn!!!! I have been temping learning GBA dev. I'm trying to finish my projects with GBDK (The C library that 'GB Studio' is based off of), but i'm so tempted!!! as for PC compatibility, one idea i thought of is compiling a GBA emulator with a pre-baked ROM file. I was just eyeing butano too!!!

The 3DS uses hardware emulation for GBA and DS games so if it runs slow on a 3DS it'll run slow on a real GBA.

GBA emulation on 3DS is kinda hit or miss, if it's not using the virtual console then it's not gonna run well. I'd look into GBARunner, but I don't know if that works on 3DS. Me personally, I'd probably use a DS or DSi over a 3DS either way

you should add a dog to the game, and more importantly you should ignore any comments asking you to add things because micro overscoping adds up and will kill your game

so just say “the human player is sometimes a dog that just looks like a human” and you fulfilled the request in 0.2 seconds and can move on

youll do great, just remember to learn things in depth when you can even if it delays a video over learning it well enough to appear to work

this is the only way youll get the game done, and will be more rewarding when future steps arent buggy and delay the devlogs anyway, plus it’s fun to truly understand things

I had a dream where I played a somewhat Overwatch-like game, a hero shooter where players are either aliens or space explorers. It’s called Crisis 3000. The aliens are all based on different insects. I’d love it to be real someday.
