There is something so ironic yet poetic about "the future of retro" 🔥

Maybe if there was a Kit to Retrofit monitors with dead tubes and maybe apple computers and the like too for more originality that would be epic

Alot of knowledgeable people here so let me ask you. I have 22"CRT Samsung that lost like 50% of it brightness. Is it worth fixing it or is at the end of its life?

is it just an ips monitor in a white box? that won't satisfy the retro nerds, unless it's the retro nerds that care about muh aesthetics.

30 seconds into the video and just from looking at the back of the monitor (without any context), I knew I was sold! This is an AWESOME idea!

But this is not suitable for retro just because it's 4:3, that's not the point of retrogaming. I want the manufacturer to actually build a CRT slim monitor, not an IPS display "retro wannabe" monitor.

Don't these guys know what are cathode ray tubes? they have a specific way of showing image as well as virtually 0 input lag.

If I have to spend 300€ on a 19" IPS 4:3 display, I better buy a 21-32" second hand CRT flat TV in a very good shape and I still have money to buy another one. Actually, I bought 2 Samsung 21" 4:3 SlimFit TV's with less than that, one is still new and the other I found second hand in a store in a pretty good shape (the one I'm currently using). Do not give up, get a real CRT TV.

It sounds cool, but... look, if I cannot completely understand the point of this, I feel like it might be harder for someone who barely cares to understand and help fund something like this. It may have helped to focus on the key point first, the lifespan of the device compared to old CRT displays.

Essentially it's a future-proof monitor for retro gaming that has more reliability than an old CRT display and down the line is more affordable. On top of that, the modularity you gushed about at the start, which is pretty cool from an objective standpoint, though not something I think the average person would even think about. They'd just want to know it has the ports they need (and it can, depending on how much you're willing to pay) for their setup. Not that they need the average person to get it, but it helps with funding to branch out and not just rely on your niche category. Tech and gaming nerds do love us some fancy hardware, though, and we are willing to spend a pretty penny on it. Just look at all the wild third-party handhelds out there for retro gaming. Can get upwards of $700 for the addition of modern gaming, it's insane.

For a moment, when I saw the monitor, I thought you were showing like... some display piece of the prototype of a product that didn't exist yet that they loaned you to hold onto. I actually thought that was some sort of sticker on the front and you'd show footage after. Just a weird note. I haven't seen an old-school monitor design like this in a long time, and even this feels unique somehow from it, it really took me by surprise.

I've wanted to set up an old-school gaming PC for a while with a classic monitor and tower case, but maybe I should keep an eye on this instead. Durability is important to me and I know sometimes it can be a pain to fix old hardware as the parts become less commonplace. A modern solution seems ideal.

Is there a 32 in version that would be great for arcade screen replacements. Could have a bezel and no bezel mode you could replace with arcade mount bracket. And most of us played old consoles on 32in screens

Nice concept and idea. But nothing will replace a CRT, the dot per inch any modern IPS display is way to much high res compared to any CRT tv image resolution and how the image was generated using analog cathode ray tube and a shadow mask. All these consoles where optimized for CRT, and the image in TV's was not crisp and clear because literally no one was watching 1m from teh scrteen, a minimum of 3m was the closest and watching a console image that this generation calls "pixel art" on a CRT tv with traditional screen from couple of metters away, and not on a trinittron of newer flat screen crt, the image looks gorgeous and a lot of the pixels disabear because the image AA was and is blurier because of the shadow mask. Sitting with latest hardware on the market here and i miss my old 35" crt TV lol.

I'm just not sure why you would want a modular AIO product when having a separate monitor and video source (such as an OSSC) is even more modular.
