BATTLETECH: The King Crab

I've been running mine with 2x Gauss, 1x Artemis IV SRM6, 1x ER PPC. No need for LRM with the ER laser, and with how much ammo the SRM can carry by comparison - far more useful.
Pilot sniping really simplifies everything, and I end up with 130 rounds of ammo for the gauss.

In MW5 I've been able to salvage multiple mechs, only needing to replace the cockpit and repair the armour.

I love this thing so much, idk why. But I really like it.

Who's making these mech configs? Like you spend 30 odd tons on ac20s and can't swing 2 or 3 more tons of ammo to feed it?

My late Clantech King Crab: Start with the 010. Trade the LB 10-X autocannons for HAG/20s. Swap the PPCs for Clan ER PPCs. I think I replaced the SRMs with ATMs, forget exactly though and can't check at the moment.

The thing is brutal.

The King Crab is a 'Mech far more represented than it should be, for the simple reason that it's pure, uncomplicated, walking dakka. Point it at a problem, and if it's within six hexes, that problem ceases to exist. Problems aside, it's kind of beautiful.

I prefer the Atlas, but there's something REALLY satisfying about knocking out an enemy heavy with a single trigger pull.

Lol, King Crab should have the "landing pad" quirk. Vtols can land on them and it gets penalties when being dfad

Beware the Crab! Does not matter what model it is (other than possibly the original) it is dangerous.

The King Crab. The second worst thing to encounter in an urban battlefield. Right after the Urbanmech with an AC-20. Both will kill you, but a King Crab is a better story.

Love the MEchCommander 2 Steiner theme, glad it's being honored here. As for the rest, the main subject of the video, flawless

Giving this mech double heat sinks increases its cooling by 5...cheese up the weight to add another ton of ammo for the lrm 15 but moreover 2 tons each for the AC 20s.... not sure why it wasn't done from the start

considering its size it should have more armor than an Atlas but thats not how battletech physics work.

Me and my friends were playing MechWarrior 5 awhile back and I was in a king crab there were all in crabs and the entire time everytime we scored a mech kill we would just start sing the crab people song from south park lol

This mech is amazing. Its a straight up killer. I love piloting one, makes me feel like queen bee on the field.

I love the King Crab KGC-010, it's truly a monster of a 'Mech.

Definitely my favourite assault mech, I’m curious what the Clanners will do when they eventually decide to retrofit these bad boys.

The ultimate DIY mech. KGC always looked to me like its original creators never quite figured out what exactly to do with it after construction, simply hoping mechwarriors will step in and figure it out for themselves.
“Let’s just build something awesome and stuff it with junk laying around” was the moto of this project for sure.

I have always thought that the King Crab was a well balanced machine and I like mechs that are symmetrical.

The 010 is stunning and I took the time to look at all of the versions of the KGC. Maybe BigRed can answer this why would a good mech like this that is not part of the normal game setting (Succession to Ilclan)? Was there a point in time when CGL was pushing for gamers to play the Amaris Civil War? Was this a game balance issue or do we have goof balls making strange choices at CGL?

By far my favorite Inner Sphere mech. In MechWarrior 5 I run it with 2 Ultra AC 20s, 3 medium lasers, LRM 15 Artemis or 2 SRM 6s Artemis, and a supercharger. I rip mechs a new one with that thing.

Whenever I see a king crab I start sweating. Not sure if it´s from fear or desire

I'll be honest I'm giving a choice between no torso twist but full arms, and the new version which has force of twist but does not have full arms, I very much prefer the original. In the original, a king crab could attack two separate targets, one up to 90 degrees left and one up to 90 degrees right, giving it 180 degrees of fire. The only safe place was to be behind it.

Now it's arms can only fire forwards or backwards, and the torso twist allows it to attack something up to two hexes to the left or right, and it must choose. And when it does fire forward and backward, there's more of a penalty, than the original no twist king crab firing left and right at the same time. Not to mention the perils of melee stunting and the trouble if knocked down. The king crab had never suffered a worse neutering.

Crabcrab is good friend in all lands.

Easily my favorite Assault. The combo of paired AC/20, plus armor, a useful LRM and Laser to back up and soften the target for the King Crab's claws.

That and as a Mech... Damn does it look intimidating and cool.

The King Crab is a assault hunter it's good at smacked other assaults around but not much else

Is there any Mech that competes with the Atlas?
