13 Vastly Underrated Sci-Fi Movies!

I just can't bring myself to call The Fountain a sci-fi film. Even with Jackman as super space monk. It's easily Aronofsky's best told story. And his most gorgeous. Such a visually stunning film. Even the credits are beautiful.

Upgrade was really unexpected.

Idiocracy is not a movie, is a documentary, a real funny one if it was not true.

Dredd is my favorite on the list, everything else just doesn't even come close, it's just pure awesome!

"Moon" came out of no where! I had never heard of it before I watched it. Very high quality visuals, with good lighting.

In the origional DREDD comix, he never removes his helmet. Or if he does we only see him from the rear. We NEVER see DREDD's face. Sylvester Stallone violated this rull.

41 is a great time travel film and the movie demolition man predicted a lot in a similar way to how idiocracy did

Jesus! “The Fountain” got my girlfriend so depressed she cried for hours after seeing it. And then in a middle of her work day I sent her the soundtrack as a prank and that was priceless! 🤦🏻‍♂️

"Coherence" - similar to Primer but easier to follow.
BTW, Primer will separate your smart friends form less so - works every time 😄

Got a completely different take on Timecrimes, I was so disappointed by that one. It’s convoluted because the protagonist is a complete idiot who won’t take responsibility for his actions, the whole thing is a real bummer.

TRY THIS MOVIE! Well let's start from the beginning. What a disappointment I felt right at the beginning, as soon as I saw "Fountain". So, not willing to waste my time, I went to look at the chapters to see if "the movie you couldn't miss" was on the list and guess what: disappointment grew exponentially as, no only that masterpiece it was not on the list , but also you included Turbo Kid. But as I saw Moon as number 1 a decided to see the whole video. Well, I couldn't have had a bigger surprise: there it was, hidden, as number one, the best thing i saw in a long long time UPGRADE. Nor could I have felt worse for underestimating you so much (plus all the insults i though). Of course I'm kidding just by over exaggerating. TRY THIS ONE: "Eva" by Spanish directo Kike Maillo. I find it beautiful and super underrated

Aw man, the Fountain. That's the most beautifully saddest films in existence. It's amazing, but hard to watch more than once.

Midnight Special ending sucked. It was such a slow, what's going on film, it needed an ending pay-off worth watching that snooze, and it greatly disappointed.

Proud of my Sci-Fi self, I've seen at least 60% of these! 😊

Predestination was adapted from a Heinlein story, "All You Zombies" Great story, well adapted.

Read C.M Kornbluth's "The Marching Morons" (1951) if you liked Idiocracy. Fantastic!

I would also add The Europa Report and Another Earth to this list. Europa Report may not be that thought provoking but I do love a good movie about astronauts in space, and Another Earth is a depressingly dark drama set against a back drop of Sci Fi elements.

Einstein's God Model is a hidden gem.
Moon was good.....I didn't love it.........but it was good. It gave me Silent Running vibes.

Guess I just watch too many movies, because I've seen all of these. Upgrade was far and away my personal favorite, followed by Predestination. Idiocracy is more of a documentary in the making, and Turbo Kid isn't really in the Sci-Fi genre either as much as post-apocalyptic/dystopian. Under the Skin is visually arresting, yet simultaneously one of the most boring films I've ever watched.

I thought Under the Skin was excellent, different stories are always welcomed.
