I'm not sure what amused me more; when you searched "Google Ass", the comment about having a conversation with a cardboard box, or my Google Home Mini joining in on the action during the segment where you ask your Google Assistant box all those questions. 😅

Hey Chris, I have a question for you about this AIY project. I'm looking to get some for my and my older kids to do, and I am wondering...do they continually need to be plugged into a computer and/or monitor? I have no previous experience the RaspberryPi. Thank you!

They don’t make or sell this exact kit anymore. The current one includes a Pi Zero.

Just like all the other stupid how to channels I sit through all this nonsense about how to fold a box and how to put together kindergarten level stuff and then we get to the important stuff and he said I've already got the Page open what page how do you get there what are the instructions to do in that in Hawaii where the explanation does stuff go when it gets imported all the sudden you fail us for at least you're failing me couldn't be more disappointed can't believe I wasted so many hours on so many sites that explain pointless kindergarten level nonsense and then leap over the only instruction needed.

@ExplainingComputers Do you find it disconcerting or dodgy that Google AI Assistant can collect personal information and data, just like Amazon's Alexa and Siri? I mean I would as I prefer for my computers to have better privacy as well as telling Google, MS as well as Amazon, "None of your bloody business!" I wasn't sure if any AI Assistant alternatives like PiCroft (which have added Google AIY voice HAT Support in Dec 2018) that promises or even claim that those AI Assistant companies or organisations won't share any data or personal information to 3rd party companies etc.

My wife just picked one up at Micro Center on clearance for $2.99 USD.

hey, could you possibly explain to me why on my pi, even though I have set up the pi with everything else, when i head to the dev terminal and type in the command, it does not say aiy voice kit on the purple part... and any of the commands say bash:no such directory

I have spent like an hour assembling that stupid cardboard box. I also destroyed the microSD card in the process. Nexttime I will insert the card after pushing pi through the box...

This project, combined with a few other parts, (minus that big green button), would be useful with a screen and installed behind a bathroom mirror and get the news and weather in the morning while I'm shaving. Wahdaya think? I found several videos that show how to do that. I'm going to try that. Thanks.

Are there limitation to Google AIY voice? Is it a full google assistant? How many commands does the assistant accept?
