Sennks, vas very helpful!
ОтветитьFirst of all. I am not de-validating your experience. But this video may be lacking some big perspectives. When you say you attended BOTH dental and medical school it's misleading, you didn't do all 4 years of MD school, since you only did 2(or3?) years of MD school for your OMFS route, on top of that, you started year 2 of MD school. You missed the 1st year of MD school at Boston U. You are comparing your FULL experience at your dental school vs your 2-3 year experience at a medical school. It doesn't sound like a fair comparison.
The isolation could be because you started year 2 at MD school. It sounds similar to an experience of a transfer student at any college. You didn't start medical school in the same cohort with other medical students. The students at your MD school probably already found their friend groups so maybe it was more difficult to blend in? Year 2 is a stressful year, everyone is leading up to the date they take the USMLE step 1. A lot of the amazing support system at medical schools is during year 1, you might've missed that from jumping into year 2. Of course, this is just speculation. I did not attend classes with you so I do not know what your experience is like.
Not every medical school have rotations in other hospitals like that. You are speaking of that aspect of medical school only from a negative point of view. The away rotations are VERY, VERY important in medicine because it gives the medical students a broader experience of healthcare and being able to see and experience patient care from different perspectives. It enhances the student's experience and gives them an opportunity to see patients from different demographics as well. You get this opportunity to learn from other clinicians at other institutions that you may otherwise not get that exposure. It's so that medical students do not get "comfortable" with the concept of "group think." Medicine is so, so broad, there are so many subspecialties these days, you certainly cannot learn EVERYTHING from doing clinical(clerkship years) at one institution. You can also make really important connections from doing away rotations. It also teaches you to assimilate into new groups of people. At the end of the day, it helps make us more well rounded and prepared to take care of our patients. It's about making new connections, learning to be around other people, learning to see things from a different perspective, and stepping out of our comfort zone. Me and my friends chose to do away rotations for this matter.
I apologize if I'm reading you wrong, but it almost sounds like you're making it about yourself. It's not all about us, we chose to go into medicine for our future patients. I did away rotations and I am extremely thankful for this opportunity. I made new friends, I met amazing attending physicians, nurses, and learnt so much about different groups of patients and regional/cultural differences and how it affects clinical decision making. It also sounds like you're blaming the curriculum for feeling isolated.
I love your videos and perspectives. Sorry for the long rant. Have a nice day.
So you are more of a Dentist than a Physician is that right? Can you practice as a physician if you got residency training? Also if dental school is similar to medical school in the first 2 yrs, why the need for med school in your specialization? Are you just taking classes in med school or getting the full scope of the first two yrs, preceptorships, research, mock patient interactions, looming STEP...? Studying is much different when you have to retain info for a board exam. Just curious is all, what you are doing is super cool 😁
ОтветитьGo go go go go go go go go go go go poo poo pee pee poo poo pee pee poo poo pee pee poo poo pee pee la la la la la la la la la la la la it to me it makes no sense what I’m saying ha ha Ha dreams later

i want to make my dream come true
Hey !! thanks for your video that will help so much students for their choices.
I wanted to know if you have advice to succeed in practice .. We usually don't have more time than practical work to improve our abilities. Any advice for that?
Great video
Ответитьyeah no, medical students don't rotate with their friends lol. That sounds silly, you definitely are a more of a dentist at heart. Medical students, social life??? hahaha so silly. you become friends with the residents. I personally enjoyed being with the residents and got to deliver lots of babies and suture and then hang out for late dinner and only sleep for four hours. have a good time while rotating, no need to hang out outside of the hospital!! Dinner plans with friends, social life outside of rotations????? omg, still think medical school was easier??? you radiate Dentist, you sound more passionate when u talk about it!!
ОтветитьI'm a 3rd year medical student and I agree. its very isolating and lonely. there's also so many gunners
ОтветитьOk but the real question is: Do you say medial or mesial 🤔
P.S. my (roomate's) dog's name is Ozzy too!
Can you do a video about paying for dental school? Like managing debt and stuff
ОтветитьThis is really inspiring me to consider attending dental school then medical school.
ОтветитьHi Rola, I like your videos but I really wish they were condensed because they’re so long with little real info.
ОтветитьI am so tiered listening to you my dear 🤪 Too much talk and little content
ОтветитьAllopathic medical school sounds a lot more stressful
ОтветитьCan we do Masters in dentistry in the states or in Canada after completing bds from India...if at all there is any way possible are they too costly nd if they r do they hv scholarship provisions?nd will an Indian get a visa for practising masters at the states??
ОтветитьI thought this was going to be a samurai channel ("Fifteen blades"). Vaguely disappointed. Lol.
ОтветитьAre you still good friends with the people u met in dental school?
ОтветитьThe tips is amazingly helpful.
ОтветитьThis was so helpful, thanks :)
ОтветитьGreat video 😄 there’s a little bit of distortion on the audio in this video it seems like
ОтветитьToo verbose
ОтветитьI have a question, given that you’re a med student and a resident in one, do you pay into tuition or do you get paid a salary (since you’re in residency)?
ОтветитьResidency is like a family more than med school. However residency is stressful as heck :(
ОтветитьAre there fully paid DDS/PhD?
ОтветитьHey! Thank you for your time. When you start the 6 year OMFS dual MD program do you start medical school as a 3rd year? And is it true that the first two years of dental and medical school are very similar in course work?
Ответить
