Tip: Once you get to open world in chapter two, horseshoe overlook, you can ride to the Fence in St. Deniz. It will be open for business, even if you haven't unlocked the fence in Emerald Ranch. Sell your gold bars there.

Easy way to make money right away, once you reach valentine. to the south of the post office on the railroad tracks there is a bridge that has a murder scene under it you need to investigate. Walk up to it but don't interact. Then every time you go back there will be 5 or 6 vultures. 3 feathers on each, plus flight feathers. $1.50 for each feather, and $2.50 for each whole bird. Easy way to make like 15 dollars and takes less than 1 minute to get to butcher. Every time you come back they're there, can do it over and over, or each time coming into town. Just remember you can only hold 10 feathers at first, so only skin like 3 of them and bring 2 in

what does "unlocking the fence" mean?

If you want to use Fence shop before the Spines of America mission, just to Rhodes, Van Horn or Saint Denis.

Play the story until Chapter 3 or 4 (if 14, then STOP immediately). At that point, completely disregard all story missions. Unlock everything in camp, unlock every satchel, finish every challenge, unlock all upgraded gear from the Trapper, hunt every legendary animal. THEN, continue the main story missions and side missions. At the end of the game when free-roam is available, finish side missions.
