Try with black shoe cream.

Try it with Nescafe after engraving. Just put the metal in a cup of coffee for a few hours. (Can I hear your Hungarian accent?)

Actually the black permanent marker works good and it's easier to apply. But I'm couriouse it somebody knows how to etch metal plating like chrome for example. The marker and mustard doesn't work here.

What if you paint and then let the laser go to work. Then you got a "mask" around the text or logo. Could you now use the vinaeger with some low current to elechtrolyte-etch. Sorry bout my poor english... 🙄

Igor I think you didn't notice some safety issues that can hurt you in the end. Your goggles are clearly not sufficient to block all the blue light. You should see the glow of the material you are cutting but no blue light at all. You need OD6 or more make sure your goggles blocks 450nm. Even diffuse reflections can damage your eyes, and in this case, it's far more dangerous because you are etching a reflective surface. When I etch metal, i start the job and step way back away from the machine so the light has enough distance to diverge before hitting my face.

Try Coleman's Mustard. It's smoother than the brand you're using. Great job!

you're putting it on way too thick and you have to put it on evenly I use a small foam brush. and a very very light coat, when you put it on too thick it takes off the engraving when you clean it

NICE, a fine grain mustard might work even better!

You can engrave it with spray paint (as mask) and (strong) Acid or saltwater and electricity (5V 1-5A)....
