Why You Should Get Another Cat

My cats are fighting too much trying to kill each other.

We took in an adult cat we found abandoned in the woods. She is mostly chill and snuggly but likes some play time. She despises are senior cat, which is OK because our senior cat has taken over the guest room and we can easily keep them separated, but she tolerated an energetic kitten we fostered for a few weeks. I wonder if a younger/smaller cat seems less threatening to her?

I went to get one kitty and ended up taking his brother at my sisters recommendation as a playmate. He's much more timid and has the odd and infrequent urinary moments on the floor( he seems very healthy for the most part and other than the odd time being late to serve them breakfast or recently getting the wrong litter no other issues i could find warrenting such behavior.) However I do love him as much as his brother and he can be a loving and caring little boy(occasionally will swipe a paw when getting his beauty sleep and disturbed unintentionally or when surprised accidentally when petting and he's got sharp claws 😂. Also will nibble occasionally when grooming too.)

🆘 We life in Germany. Our resident cat is a beautiful sweet 4 year old female and we adopted a 5 month old loving male kitten. According to shelter policy, they brought the second cat home to us and immediately released him as they said that they wanted to check their first impressions. So they immediately saw each other and it was not nice. We live in a studio flat so is really difficult to separate them. We bought a big play pen to put the new kitty in but he refuses to stay there and has almost destroyed it so we can’t keep him there. We see that he wants to be friends with her but she just want him to go away. We have tried the eat, play, love technique but our resident cat doesn’t want to play or eat when he is around. She even refuses to eat treats. So we really don’t know what to do. Does anyone can help us? We have the possibility of giving him back to the shelter but this makes us feel very sad. This is very overwhelming.

My first cat was a 3-year-old rescue with an unknown history, and the shelter had mixed results socializing her with other cats. I lived in a very small studio apartment at the time so I decided to adopt her alone because I didn’t have a realistic way to keep two cats separate and happy if I needed to do that. When I bought my house a year later and adopted a second cat, I could really tell how much she loved having a sister! I don’t think she was UNhappy before, but she was so much more vibrant with a second cat. Now we’re a very happy family of three cats, and I love watching them together and their dynamic so much. Plus, it means I get to have three cats! Win win win 😸

If you let the cat roam its gonna be killing plenty, so lots of folks are gonna fail at the preserving life thing.

I want to get another cat but I was told my cat doesn’t get a long with other cats. I just rescued her. She’s 1 year old. At the rescue she would have to be seperated. Babygirl is a sweetheart

When is it too late to get a 2nd cat? My cat is a little over 1 and i want to get another but im afraid the longer i wait, the more use to being on her own she is. Or am i thinking about it too much?

Rescued two kittens. Never bonded and wouldn’t spend time together. 15 years later Teddy passed and now Willow is living the very best life. No competition. Next time I will adopt a bonded pair.

Jackson what you’re saying about cats learning from other cats is so true. I had 2 male cats about the same age when I rescued a baby male cat. My 2 adult tom cats took the kitten into there group and very lovingly made the baby feel at home and loved and taught the baby Tom cat how to be a Tom cat. When he was old enough they gently taught him to fight and gently played with him that way. My 2 adult Tom cats also taught the youngster the house rules also, it was amazing to watch. Lena 😊

I have cats from different age 13,7,3 and 2. I am fostering two months old kittens that I love. Do you think it’s too much 6 cats? How their age will affect my other cats? They are very playful.

I grow grasses for my kitties and they go crazy when I bring the grass inside.

My cat hates all other cats :(. We've fostered several abandoned kittens after we adopted her (she was a stray who was outside our home for months before we convinced her to come inside) and she was deathly afraid of other cats. Wish we could have gotten her a friend 😥

We have 2 litter mates, got them as kittens. And then we have 4 more 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️😂

She absolutely refuses to come eat by the other side of his door

Hello Cat Daddy! I recently adopted a kitty and they get along well with my 3-year old boy cat! Almost since the very beginning with very little introduction. It happens. But, kitty (she) is crazy about eating and if I let them in the same room she will eat her brothers also without him getting annoyed at all. What should I do? I am really confused. She is a crazy little kitten while my older one is a gentleman. Please make a video about eating when cats have different eating habits... Should I bring them eat in the same room, and monitor them? Girlfriend has a 6 year old onyx black cat. She's very stuck in her ways. She grew up in a house with 2 dogs and 3 cats. When the girlfriend moved out.. you could tell the cat was getting depressed by herself.. we are about 2 months in with the new kitten. The adult cat was bathing the kitten this morning.. they have come along way

My friend has two cats..they are jealous of each other..one displays their action by urinating on her bed because of beinging jealous..how do you dolve this problem ?

I have one boy cat that I caught as a kitten with his brother. I have a 4 year old male and a 2 1/2 female. One of the boy kittens gets alone with the other cats. Humans however are the problem. He will not let you touch him at ALL without freaking out at the barest touch and running away. Any suggestions? He is comfortable enough to sleep In the bed with the humans but no touching. I’m at a loss. He is about 6 months old now

I totally agree with you. Two is not better, two is miracle!😻😻. My beloved boy, Bluie was always sad when I left for work. Then I got my beloved boy, Benny to keep him company. They two became BF and brothers. Bluie stopped feeling sad. Sometimes he was too busy playing with Benny to pay attention to me. They were my precious babies! Now I still have two cat boys. A shelter cat and a cat born at a lady’s door step.😃 they are adorable, sweet and smart. They are my big boys😻😻❤️❤️

I have 5 rescued cats from the streets. 😅 they all have different personalities but get along fine… most of the time 😂. I love them to death.

I found a stray kitten & bought Cats for Dummies book cuz I never owned a cat before. The book said the best thing you can do for your cat is get another cat. So I went to the shelter & got another cat. 😂😂😂

I really want a second kitten for mine but my parents womt let me <\3 (we didnt even plan for my kitten rn it was the cat distribution system)

My family adopted 2 kittens, but one was hit by a car a few months later.
The other is now 16yo and, despite now being diabetic, is healthy. She's aggressively protective of her territory around other animals, but very affectionate towards people.
My dog gets regular beatings though...

Hello @jacksongalaxy we adopted 3 kittens a few weeks ago, they are about 3 month old now. When we first got them they would love to cuddle and hang out with us. But now… they are completely bonded to each other but will not even come near us humans anymore. We try to play with them and talk to them to form bonds but they are only interested in cuddling each other, not us humans. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks!
