This is my composition for violin and piano. It's called "Variations on the Russian Folk Song Korobeiniki."
Korobeiniki (Коробейники) means peddlers (door-to-door travelling salesmen). It's a nineteenth-century Russian folk song which tells the story of a meeting between a peddler and his beloved.
The words are based on a poem written in 1861 by Nikolay Nekrasov (1821-1877). The melody was used in the 1988 Nintendo video game "Tetris."
