It seems like you can make more money from a flop than a hit
ОтветитьStraffi kind of was corrupted by a major multimedia mass conglomerate for their interest in Winx Club to offer him a deal of dubbing and distribution of the show in English speaking regions, resulting in a major soft reboot of the show that not only gained success from the franchise, but also drastically demoted one of the show’s characters to nothing but an occasional character, named Roxy, the fairy of animals. Not to mention that the age demographic for animated projects has shifted younger, so Straffi attempted to lower the target age demographic for Winx Club from 8-12 to 4-8, in hopes to appeal the show to the new audience, but in the process, butchering the scripts of Seasons 3 & 4, watering down the marriage subplot of Magical Adventure to Princess Ball, co-produced seasons by Nickelodeon with a barrage of retcons and continuity errors that were obviously excused by the fact that this was part of a soft reboot, the pixie dynamic of personalities being so opposite that they compliment their bonded fairy in addition to replacing two of them, and losing a lot of money from their original animated feature, Gladiators of Rome. And worst of all….it destroyed the tone of the entire cartoon to the point that even Dora the Explorer treated her target audience with more dignity and respect. They even tried to soft reboot it again with Season 8, specifically for preschoolers by simplifying the storylines to easily understand, the art style has been changed to make the Winx look more appealing and relatable to the younger audience, and tried to, in continuity, distance itself from the previous seasons of the show. Hoping that this would fix the problems with the Nickelodeon revival, even that wasn’t able to improve the show’s reputation among the fans of the Winx Club, before its revival, after the questionable decisions of Rainbow S.p.A. Straffi even had the audacity to explain why the Nickelodeon revival was so childish that it’s not worth a legitimate Magic girl franchise and it’s target age demographic has gone down, season by season. And to add a final pinch of salt to an open wound, a young adult live-action adaptation came on Netflix and caused outrage to its older fans, than it interests. In addition to the alleged whitewashing that started with WOW with Aisha and Flora, this continued with Season 8 and then…..Fate: The Winx Saga. This time, it was reported that a white actress was chosen to be Flora, but due to the backlash from the fandom, regarding that Flora is modeled after J-Lo, who is Latina, the name of the character was renamed Terra. But that’s not the only case of whitewashing for Fate, the second one was with Musa, played by Irish actress, Elisha Applebaum, who was also said to be white. Musa was designed after Lucy Liu, a Chinese-American actress. She didn’t disclose her racial background, but claimed to be of Singaporean ancestry, but that didn’t even excuse her as an Asian person, when she was reprotedly white-passing. This information proves Nickelodeon’s Winx Club to be one of the worst cartoon revivals of all time!
ОтветитьWhy does this guy yell so much?
ОтветитьK but I actually grew up with this movie
ОтветитьWhy does the movie's animation look like something that was made for DVD?
ОтветитьI wasn't traumatized when I saw it. I thought it was funny.
ОтветитьR I P Clarius Entertainment.
ОтветитьI always thought Wiser was a very compelling character.
ОтветитьWiser is kinda developed.
ОтветитьThere was a wizard of oz 2, i feel like it always gets ignored
ОтветитьIm gay for the Jester
ОтветитьWe did it boys, we found the good ending to The Producers
ОтветитьSeriously Mat. Please look up the history of "Norm of the North".
ОтветитьJesus Christ their response to its failure is giving me YIIK flashbacks...
ОтветитьSo apparently this guy Ryan Carroll is a co producer twice. Once under his own name, and once under the name of Max Carroll. Ryan also played a character in the 80s horror film witchboard, for some odd reason.
ОтветитьThis almost looks like a bad Kickstarter project that Retsupre back in the day would have had a field day rifting apart.
ОтветитьI personally think the film falls under the 'so bad it's good' spectrum, regardless of the shady business practices surrounding it.
ОтветитьI’ve just read on BoxOfficeMojo, that the film grossed $21.7 Million worldwide, contrary to the alleged $18 Million, it was still close.
ОтветитьHOLD UP if the Jester was a brother to the wicked witch of the west, Why Is he not Green??!!!
just saying
Honestly one of the best videos this man has made
ОтветитьYeah the movie was kinda confusing and clearly rushed story, but regardless I still enjoy it, the animation was honestly charming for me and I loved jester so much that I began a burning passion for medieval jesters, I loved the movie but eh they could have done better, jester it's still the best
ОтветитьI mean I haven't watched the movie But to AniMat I do agree with your opinion if it weren't for those Scamming Brothers this movie would've been cancelled
ОтветитьI actually own this movie on Bluray lol 😆
Ответитьwas it worth it
ОтветитьThe Carroll brothers must have seen the film The Producers, and lived out the axiom "You can make more from a flop than you can from a hit." They made $20 million, each, and are probably in Barbados right now laughing their asses off.
ОтветитьDid he really say....hyper bowl?
ОтветитьMaN tHiS mOvIe Is So BaD iT sHoUlD bE iLlGaL
ОтветитьI saw the movie at the theater and I enjoyed the film, so much so that I own a dvd copy of it.
ОтветитьWow, another Oz film with a not so legal history behind it…
Not the first time that happened
“Failed to impress anyone” Well, it impressed me as a kid. I loved the movie and watched it multiple times. I actually enjoyed the movie and found it charming and funny. Now that I saw this video, I feel like a piece of my childhood was ruined.
ОтветитьI'm a big Oz fan, but I've typically not liked anything animated. When I saw that Bernadette Peters and Megan Hilty were voicing, I had hoped for some great vocals and songs. Boy, was I wrong. The whole thing was just dull as dishwater.
Ответитьwould anyone find it hard to believe that there a small fandom that likes the movie?
ОтветитьThis entire movie looks like a PS1 cutscene. And not a good one.
ОтветитьThis movie had alot of potential, but they wasted it on absoluts garbage
ОтветитьWicked will be the 1st theatrically released Oz film since this. And thankfully that film is not a scam.
ОтветитьBryan Adams also sang "Summer of '69". Actually he sang lots of songs in the 1970s.
ОтветитьThis film gave me Alice in Wonderland vibes.
ОтветитьI loved this movie as a kid, and to be fair I wouldn’t say it’s a good movie, it’s objectively bad, but I loved it and that will always have merit to me
ОтветитьIs it just me, or does the reveal at the end of the movie seem like the Carrols were…bragging almost? Or atleast taking the mick?
ОтветитьI remember enjoying it when I saw it on opening night but looking back…yeah it was awful
ОтветитьThat dramatic David Yancey reading earned you a new subscriber. 💜
Such a fascinating backstory behind such a forgettable film. These kind of stories are one of the few things about the film industry that genuinely fascinate me.
Hey AniMat. Think about it: this could make a for a movie in and of itself.
ОтветитьMy sister actually has a legends of oz t shirt but nowadays she wears it whenever she dyes her hair
ОтветитьFun fact. Ryan Carroll at least in 2021 was a homeless meth head on the streets in Pomona CA. oh and bro tone it down with the overacting voice
ОтветитьI noticed some people brought up the fact that Greg Centineo's son is indeed Noah Centineo, the star of the TV series The Forsters and featured in movies like To All the Boys I've Loved Before and Sony's Charlie's Angels reboot. All I'm gonna say about him is by asking you the question: Guess how daddy helped Noah become a Hollywood actor?
