I’ve always been confused by the turboprop engine. This is far and away the best and most understandable step by step explanation. My eyes have been opened!

Charles Parsons, the primary inventor of any turbine that uses high pressure high temperature gases (gaseous water is a gas) does not get the credit that James Watt gets.
Watt made the reciprocating steam engine widely viable. But the turbine (wind turbines aren't turbines) is a huge improvement, and not "evolved" from the other.
