thanks community part is really important, first we build a free community then we launch a course at later point after having enough members
ОтветитьHi @TiffInTech, I'm kind of in a dilemma, I've been working in a tech company for 6 years now and there's a person I know who has offered me a project where I would be the sole back-end dev, and it sounds like an amazing opportunity to learn more but Im scared I won't be able to deliver since I will be doing everything myself which I'm not used to. Though I have, in the past, always been anxious about starting projects and work in different technologies in my company after a few months I've always been able to get the hang of things and do well. I guess my question is do you think I should take up the project? For now I think it would be a one time thing and I'm not really getting into freelance full-time as of now.
Ответитьone thing that i did not understand is if your dad owns a construction company then why you tried to get freelance projects? )
ОтветитьHi, just started as a freelancer developer in Miami, and I think I just passed the stage where I got lost between "going out and getting clients" and "finding the time to actually code their projects". I guess the key here is to find help when needed. Don't be afraid to ask a fellow developer for a hand when things are too much, especially because it's hard to predict the workload when you're just starting.
ОтветитьWhat a cool intro. The bit about building the community is what I have not done so no wonder why I am struggling with getting clients. Have you ever thought to be somebody's mentor in their software development journey?
Ответить🤩
ОтветитьFor transparency, how much you earn (percentage) from freelancing and from social media
ОтветитьThank you for this video! Just finished my coding BootCamp and being interested in Freelancing I found all your advice very helpful!
Ответитьhi! how to create the personal app or software?
ОтветитьThank you ! Great advice...
Ответитьnow can i replace the community with AI ?
ОтветитьI have been a successful freelance Ecologist for 12 years but want to get into IT. I am intending to get AWS Solutions Architect Associate certification and complete 100 Days of Code and Boto3 courses on Udemy together with the Cloud Resume Challenge. Will this be enough to start freelancing as a cloud developer? I can make the switch gradually whilst continuing to run my ecology business. Your video made me think there maybe a lot of possible opportunities to provide my IT services within my extensive ecology consultancy network. Thanks for the useful video, much appreciated
ОтветитьJust subbed! So glad you put out this video. I’ve been talking about this A LOT. Looking forward to watch the rest of your content
ОтветитьHI TIFF, Thank you so much for all the amazing sauce and knowledge you share with the E-Com world. I am at the beginning, somewhat of the beginning of my journey anyway.. and I am trying to find some forums, or a community of like-minded people. Do you have any suggestions or know of any I could join? I am launching my Digital Marketing Consulting gig. Thanks in advance.
ОтветитьI don't know. Freelancing is lonely. I am an old-school employee. I enjoy lunch time, coffee machine, gossiping and talk s**t about my boss with my colleagues.
ОтветитьHi im from Indonesia 🇮🇩
ОтветитьSo beautiful smart and sweet girl 🥰😘
ОтветитьTiff, you're such a inspirational person. I'm a developer also, and also like build and sharing knowledge.
keep going~~
Awesome insights.
ОтветитьThe point is, enjoy the job you are doing because is more pleasant enjoy the day by day - the hard thing, is reach a fair salary with the other side (the contractor) ... a nice video .... and well have an excellent fluent English speaking is a huge plus ....
Ответитьgreat advice thanks for your time.
ОтветитьI started freelancing two years ago. This elderly lady asked me to manage her social media account, edit and post her content on ig-tiktok-etc and maintain her website. I expanded and started doing the same for my dad’s business. Even though their bakery is pretty successful, word of mouth wise, I figured why not! It’s gonna be great for them to have an online presence either way. With that being said, I was going to expand and start building websites for companies around my neighborhood and offering digital marketing services; However, after watching this video I realize that maybe I need to slow down and gain some more experience before I do that. I didn’t consider all the responsibilities that’s going to come with working with businesses (strangers) who may have deadlines, might want to see receipts, and results that I may not be able to provide instantly. Not to mention the quality of work that I will need to consistently put out. And I can see doing this alone and not having a community of support, this can become very hard to cope with. So, thank you for sharing. I needed to hear this.
ОтветитьThanks! Came at the right time!
Ответить👍🏻
ОтветитьGreat ideas Tiff, I have used a lot of tech tools, right now have the problems, I see opportunities in all of them, Google Ads, Wordpress websites, SQL, MS Power Bi, Odoo ERP, SCRUM, and I like all of them, any take on where to focus on as a freelance or independent consulting? Cheers!
ОтветитьAwesome video
ОтветитьPlanning to have a trip to Scotland, UK?
ОтветитьPlease can you remind some good and genuine freelancer platform.
Thanks
I've been a freelancer all my career (since the days of table layouts and no css lol). It's a lonely existence but that is why it works for me, I'm not a social person. There are always communities around, stack, discord, DreamInCode, there's tons.
My biggest problem is finding clients, especially ones that are willing to pay to have what they want built.
As of the chicken or the egg.. The best thing in my opinion, is to do a few sites for free. Literally find small businesses in your area that have crappy sites or no sit at all, and offer to build them a site for free in return for a testimonial.
Great video as always, Tiff!
Tiff, your videos are very helpful, I have finished my MSC in Computer Science, I have a few ideas for projects including a very good opportunity to make an app for the company I am working for.
But I have ideas to build software, and I would like to write my own Software and my own product company, I know I probably should get some experience working for others first, but I have some good ideas & if I don't someone else will, Is it okay to just dive straight in ?
How much time do you spend on coding in a day?
ОтветитьI want to find a full time position so that I can gain experience first. However, I will take on a freelance project here and there if it will help build out my portfolio to get hired. I prefer a team of people to work with if I get stuck. My question is this: Why did you not put the answer the question at the end of the video as you promised??? Which leads up to the follow up: What is the answer???? I am dying to know!
ОтветитьHow can one find this community of freelancers? The slack and discord channels
ОтветитьI'm 44, and never worked in the Tech industry, actually, my background is in sales & customer service, but do I still have time to study IT and start a new career? I don't know how to get started...
ОтветитьWhat mic do you use? Sounds great.
ОтветитьGreat ideas! Lmao the fake tears looked really real btw 👀
Ответитьwow ! wonderful insights !! and you are getting better and better at this
ОтветитьI love your sense of humor 😂
ОтветитьHi, I'm from São Paulo! Totalmente!
Ответить@Tiff in Tech I tried so many times to get first project as a freelancer "software engineer" but I failed how to win first one if you can bring to us a good way to start making money
ОтветитьThank you for the video and ideas. I am a software developer with 20 years of experience. I have been freelancing for about five years. I never got the hang of networking, as my few clients have been through word of mouth. But I would like to find some online communities to diversify my work. I would be interested in a video on online communities for freelancers.
ОтветитьHey Tiff, this is a long shot here but would you be open to have a coffee chat? I have watched so many of your videos, and I think it would also be amazing to hear one on one from you about your career journey too. I just started learning how to program through free code Academy this January.
ОтветитьWhat I noticed some years ago is, turn over almost any rock and there's another web developer. Some of them are kids still in school. Lots of competition.
Just do what makes you happy! 😁
Hey Tiff thanks for this topic 😁❤️❤️.
Ooh the intro 😂😂🤣🤣
