I have to remark, that moments before @JordanBPeterson called it a scattershot presentation, I was thinking he has nailed it so squarely and firmly every single step and phrase of the way, such perfect navigation through all of the historical ideas, to lay out that shape of what’s coming up. He is !ON HIS GAME! in this lecture. There’s not enough time in my life to listen to these enough. And I have listened to every single hour of his 12 Rules for Life podcasts. I’ve noticed when he’s tired in those. And he’s not tired in this one.

Without understanding the book, you can’t understand other people

I just had these thoughts a couple weeks ago. Maybe these thoughts are a conclusion one will draw with enough thought and exposure to ideas (many presented by you). Perhaps I didn't create the thoughts on my own as I believed at the time thought. I find it more likely I heard this specific video and absorbed it without realizing it. Maybe I'm selling myself short? Great thoughts nonetheless, thanks for the wisdom sir.

Ok... It 8s simple for me - I am gonna hit the elders.... Here is the logic of my decision - the woman has the option to become pregnant and give birth to more children at the same time the child in the future will also create a generation.
That doesn't mean I don't have compassion to elders,just that is the most logical decision in that specific case.... Ofc it gonna be better to hit the brakes, although if you can not by any surcemstance as technical or other reasons .... 🫣😏

Thank you. My relationship with God is personal to me. No other person can understand it as I do and even if they agreed with my perception theirs would still be different. It's a uniquely private relationship.

I think he nailed it with this one... I've been on a similar stint in talking to "criminal law + harm reduction" politics.

I explained it to my kids this way, "...We used to have a culture based on a religious foundation - the modern narrative, due in part to the public failings of those who are effectively ambassadors to that foundational belief - is that 'we have transcended religion'. Ask yourself, if you killed someone, what happens to you? (you 'go to hell when you die) So you have a literal fear of God that drives the foundation of your values (ethical framework, using Dr Peterson's term). When you take that fear of God away, what do you base your values on?..."

They had that moment of enlightenment then - it's easy to see that these "other people" don't see or live in the world like we do, and that explains why they want to live differently than us.

We just need to have a moment and decide if we are okay surrounding ourselves with people who don't see the world the same way... is that "good"? Is it safe? Is it healthy? At least we're asking the right questions.

Most of you non-critical thinkers will understand this, but this is the truth about people who believe in god:

That's right: God's word, the Bible, HIS revelation to HIS human creatures, is TRUTH (John 17, 17), the only valid ultimate Standard on basis of which all other truth claims have to let themselves being evaluate. Only what's in accordance with it is relevant in relation to TRUTH.

Faith seems kind of sketchy if it’s totally blind. But if it has been seeded on some believable evidence, and in turn serves to help bridge the gap in other related matters then it seems like it can serve a good purpose. “Just have faith” can be applied to any matter. But I’m more comfortable having faith in less perceivable realities and claims when the part that you do know has proven trustworthy. Since the embodiment of a concept can transcend into the unknown and unreasoned or even unreasonable, and yet demands belief and obedience, it makes it seem like a very appropriate thing to make sure you’ve found validity in some aspect. I kind of think that the concept of faith has been commonly portrayed incorrectly. I feel like when Jesus says have faith, He’s saying take hold of the evidence I’ve given you through my coming, signs and wonders, and the fulfillment of the written word, to allow yourself to be strengthened to build a bridge over your doubts in areas that seem contrary or risky to the true reality I describe to you, and if I ask you to walk on water, take that first step because you know Me. Jesus showed up with signs and wonders, not baseless claims to “have faith”.

I’ve always thought that if the Bible wasn’t as historically valid (mainly New Testament, but also some old) as some people claim, there would have been so much more literature discrediting the happenings during Bible times that it would be fairly obvious it wasn’t something supernatural. At minimum, the historical landmarks described in the Bible along with the acts described is astonishing. The amount of claims to supernatural movement that were in such a public display is amazing. It seems like you would have to go down a trail of thought about how to identify credibility in written history, in the Bible and outside. Or have a study of how culture has reacted to things that have proven false and how to identify red flags that would provide enough evidence to propose somethings wrong.

you said that is highly surprising that the idea that every person has intrinsic value is an idea that is scrutinized. i believe that it is like that because cultures have been built around cults and people's identities, despite the individual worth each person provides. it's very scary to be your own person, with the waves of people trying to bring an individual into submission, if they dont stand their ground. nobody starts out wondering who their antagonist is in the face of individuality, and it pretty much turns out to be the very thing that provides worth

TRUTH CAN ONLY BE, WHEN THE I/ME/SELF/EGO IS NOT.
So any act, decision, control, discipline is limited to experience, knowledge of oneself and the surrounding and that is always limited. Truth on the other hand can not be limited. Truth has to be whole, holy.
That would mean that any action from a center (from the “monkey mind”) is not truth and can never lead to truth. I obviously myself am going at it with my intellect and have not seen and acted from this “energy“ source which may be truth/intelligence/love/holistic.

The questions has to shake our conditioning/bias. The question, if correctly asked, shall give the answer, not me/you rationalising from limited information and get to the answer. Even putting it into words is strictly seen not truth as “the word is not the thing”. Everything we analyse is made of our knowledge about the thing being analysed. “The analyser/controller/observer is the analysed/controlled/observed” (Jiddu Krishnamurti). That means both the analyser and the thing analysed/observed are made of memory coming from the analyser/observer (gathered memory from humanity till now, the past). So in fact that’s just playing around with what is already known and therefore remain in limitation. That’s paralysis not analysis.

I hope I can get a response to that Jordan.
