I've actually used tinfoil reflectors to grow food indoors on a windowsill during the winter in canada. They did help compared to no tinfoil reflectors, but didn't make an enormous difference. Mine were also much bigger than what that person used. If you want to do this: take a spare cereal box or cardboard and cover it in a single layer of aluminum foil. That will use much less foil while being relatively stiff and sturdy.

I'm pretty sure aspirin tricks a lot of plants into upping their immune system. So that hack has some relevance.

Ha ha that little reflective doo dad. Too be fair though we got a large package with foil covered Styrofoam of something awhile ago. We use the foil side to amplify light but they are about 3 x 3 foot long and wide each. It does help. But that little thing probably would not help.

So upside down planting isn't good for the plant? I was just looking at your book and it demonstrates how to make a hanging plant. I'm not knocking you, just trying to understand cause I've wanted to do this with strawberries and other plants for a long time.

Tomato worms love peppers for some reason. We have over 40 tomato planets. And I don't find them often but when I do they are always on and eating the bell pepper plants.

If you're going to use hot peppers as a deterrent for bugs I suggest you wash your hands very thoroughly before you go to the bathroom or decide to rub your eyes I mean either way is going to suck 😆😆😆

Oh literally the only reason to use a tea bag for seed starting is the anti fungal nature of certain teas. You would need to do your homework for that hack to work. Kinda sounds more effort than it is worth, just get a sterile mix or hardy seeds.

The only viral plant hacks I trust are the innocent "upcycle containers instead of buying pots" ones. Or the famous "start with chives" because chives are fun and easy and when you get it right, they keep coming back.

Watering orchids (or anything) with ice cubes? Sounds bad to me. Unless u need cold soil. Could this be a hack stores use to kill your plants faster so you purchase more frequently? Just a theory...any thoughts out there?

Regarding the Aspirin. It has salicylic acid in it which helps plants cope with stress better. It acts as a "pseudo attack" on the plant making them they are being attacked by a disease causing an immune response from the plant which in turn causes it to beef up a little which could increase yields. Other than that... it doesn't have any benefits. It's def something I would space out 3-4 weeks per application and not every week.

I'm growing upside down this year but the Everglade tomatoes get 12' long or longer and that leaves me more space for flowers in the garden. Also doing dwarf okra and various peppers hanging upside down. Our season is short in Vermont. I grow for the local food shelf, friends and family too.

The teabag is covered in (almost) boiling water. I doubt that it being not sterile would be a problem.

the succulent hack works best with plants from a craft store like Michaels or Hobby Lobby, just look in the plastic plant section, and use hot glue to attach them to the cork.

i moved to a house with partly shaded backyard. i wanted to grow the best tomatoes ever, like my life depended on it, despite them only getting 6 hours of direct sunlight. so i built a line and hook trellis system that would allow me a spiral the plants around once they reached the top of the 8 ft trellis. i had no idea how many times i would actually end up spiraling them around. by the end of the season i had a tomato plant that reached TWENTY TWO feet long. despite their towering height i only ever collected a few tomatoes from each plant.

I know exactly what your agenda is, I’ve been gardening for over 20 years & I’ve been watching you & you have some knowledge & experience but you don’t know it all, & your opinions are just a way to throw people off growing real natural food you’re suggesting grafting/cloning, growing food without seeds, yeah you’re on the wrong side of the field for me my guy I hope everyone else realizes he’s a fraud.

I'm a little confused about the tin foil. Obviously, that tiny scrap of tin foil in the video won't reflect much light back, but what about large sheets of tin foil that surround the plant and/or the growing setup (and, in the case of grow lights, contain the light source as well)?
