Noone says that the 3080 that is fitted in this laptop is locked to only 100 watts

Does anyone experience issues with the keyboard light? Mine worked perfect for the first months of my purchase, but after a while they randomly didn´t work. The keyboard light now works from time to time. I have tried to enable the light with FN+F9 and F10, does not work (worked in the first months). I try trough NitroSense and it does not work (According to the NitroSense, it shows that the lights are on, but not in practice). I have uninstalled programs and installed them again without any results...

How many fps on apex?

I will take it wirh r9 5900 and rtx 3080 for 1250€. Is it worth it?

I can not set my secondary display to 144hz(at 2560x1440 resolution) when I use HDMI port(there is no display port), Acer says that the hdmi port is 2.1 version but if it is the case I dont know why I can not set hz value over 115(screen goes black when I pass this value. Please some other owner of this laptop or someone have that kind of problem helpp meee

I'm an owner from recently purchased Acer Nitro 5 with specs 17,3 FHD IPS 144hz 1080p, 5800H, 32GB RAM (16+16) and RTX3080 so I thought I might share some insight to whomever has second thoughts about purchasing this particular model. Currently I'm only playing RD2 on ultra with anti aliasing options switched off at convenient 60 fps, give or take. GPU has taken up around 5GB of VRAM out of 8gb available. If you push any other settings fps will instantly drop because you are POWER RESTRICTED. GPU to 100watts while the CPU at 25watts with usage usually less than 50%. The CPU runs around 90 degrees with 25 max wattage while GPU runs cooler at around 70-75 degrees with 100% usage and 100 watt usage. This is achieved on balance mode on battery settings and auto mode with fans. At some places game uses up to 18gb of system RAM but it's anywhere between 12 and 18 gigs. Looking at Legion PRO 5 with the same CPU and RTX 3070 pumped with 140 watt with even better thermals makes me wonder if I made the right purchase...it's got nothing to do that I'm not satisfied with this laptop but kinda been wondering If could have paid less for even more performance...I paid around 2000 euros for this model and legions with rtx 3070 and 5800h started popping out for around 1800 euros (and that is with even faster nvme drive and 165hz QHD screen)

edit* 20.2.2022 so I've been using my first nitro for some time now and I can safely say this laptop has somewhat thermal issues while fans are on balanced mode from playing rdr2 on ultra settings 1080p. While it doesn't throttle after prolonged gaming I would still like to see lower temperatures. On max spin fan noise is just dreadful for your ears. I plan on solving this by buying thermaltake 20rgb cooling pad. Reading comments from other nitro and predator users on acer forums, I came across ryzen controller app that allows for various performance tweaks around your CPU/GPU...and what I've have done so far is manually decreased CPU TDP from 25 (which is default) to 10 and max temp 85 to 65 degrees without any performance loss! All 8 cores are clocked around 2800mhz and GPU around 1545 mhz but this can vary depending on location on map. Worth mentioning this also allows battery not to drain while gaming, yes you heard that right, in some scenarios power from outlet just won't cut it. Interestingly enough, the GPU temperature now close follows CPU all the while fan noise is acceptable. Still, take all of this with a grain of salt, fps tends to drop from 60ties to 40ties while in city as CPU needs from juice from the power outlet which I have restricted. It's not ideal but in my case definitely worth the trouble.

How long battery last when gaming?

What is the GPU Boost Clock of this Laptop? I think it is limited to 1245 MHz while the Power Limit is 100 Watt. The PSU will be a 180 Watt model. The cooling solution of the Acer Nitro 5 Laptops can't handle GPU's with high power consumption. I own an AN517-41-R5Z7.

Im still running nitro 7, gtx 1650 with 16gb of ram!!! I can push most games on ultra and high with tweaking shadow's to low and maybe water. My wife has the 2070 there's not one game she hasn't been able to play on ultra settings easily!!! And im talking far cry 6, The new battlefield and games that are just dropping in late 2021.
The 3080 must be a complete beast man fr fr cant wait to upgrade

what wattage of 3080 is this?? Acer are known for low wattage gpu-s which are weaker then under level gpus with higher wattage

What about always weak side of Acer Nitro 5 - the thermals??? What are the CPU and GPU available TDPs??? How many internal NVMe slots available? Without these details this is not a review but a waste of time...
