I feel kinda scammed by Nvidia. The promess was to have the ultimate combo to play everything you want, and we just go a list of compatible games and it vanished in some months. =/

Had two 1080 Ti FTW3 Hybrids for a while in an old FX-9590 room heater rig and they did awesome for the longest time. The number one game I play is FFXIV so your benchmark results make sense! The Endwalker benchmark set to 4k and maximum graphics settings is the first time I didn't get the highest rating in a FFXIV benchmark, but still got the second highest. I sold them for a 3090 Kingpin I got for cheapish on Ebay but couldn't improve my benchmark but my other games are a bit better now so hearing this I now know why. I'm planning on building a new rig for Dawntrail, it's been many years since I built one since this one started off with a pair of EVGA 680s in SLI and an FX-4300 when it first dropped, so yeah a decade old and still does pretty well!

I'm glad that this video came into my feed.

I'm running 2 EVGA RTX 2070 Super KO's in my rig.

The little bit that SLI grants to some games in 1440p is very very nice.

It would be even cooler if they granted an optimization for us 10 and 20 series Nvidia cards to at least have some lead way into 4k 100 hz gaming.

Modern day peripherals are way too expensive and a tragic endeavor to want to keep up with.

I used both SLI and Crossfire, it was a great way to get some extra life out of an otherwise dated GPU. I would run a high end GPU for about two generations, then buy a second used GPU of the same type off craigslist for very little and get another generation. It's too bad it's dead, I'd love to add a second 3090 to my rig when the 5xxx series drop.

Well, I guess I won't be SLI'ing my 1080 Ti then! Thanks for the informative video.
My first ever GTX card was a 760, and I remember buying a 2nd one a few months later because I was only getting double-digit framerates and I wanted more for my 144hz monitor. I don't remember a single game that didn't scale back then with SLI! (this was about 10 years ago) It wasn't quite a 100% bonus in framerate, but it was around a 50 to 70% bonus, and that was pretty good considering inexpensive 760s were.
Good times. R.I.P. SLI 🙁

Nvidia actually played a big part in killing off SLI. After all, they were the ones that removed the bridge connector.

Yes, developers had to put extra effort into making it work effectively, but the payoff was huge for the consumer. It was seen as a worthwhile investment at the time. SLI had just begun to push 90% effieciency circa 2017; 1:1 returns were effectively on the horizon.

Nvidia on the other hand saw this as a threat in the form of potentially cannibalized hardware sales. If you could scrounge together a couple older/obsolete cards and achieve performance comparable to or in excess of the latest offerings at a lower cost, the incentive to 'upgrade' to the latest GPU generation would be greatly reduced.

Hi, you should get a pcie V-Splitter and plug both cards on the same slot, you can get a custom flexible sli cable which should fit, there is some fittling around the software part though. A guy in Germany did it and he basically fooled the system into thinking there is only one card plugged he basically ran two in parallel I think they were gtx 970s.
He had a website which seems to no longer be up.

Lol. Just bought a secon 1070 to sli it up on x470 mobo. Playing with ai. Should get a few mores years life out of the rig. Hopefully the days of gpus costing more than the entire rest of the rig might be over by then - lolz, who am i kidding. Strategic obsolescence has taken hold and its supported by dev groups who are all about delivering games faster rather than making them more efficient

My PC has a 1080 and an a770. I use both cards pretty much evenly across different titles.
It's still a great GPU to have.

There's no doubt to my mind they got rid of it to encourage sales of their newer cards, fuck Nvidia.

Can you try Ag TX1080TI and then the second in SLI but Doing only physics x and see if you get a better frame rate Since the second CPU will be taking over all the effects

Some of us have decided to live the good life and invest $2k in a five year old system rather that spending $8k on a modern system built last night. I am working on a AMD TR 2960X maxed with 256Gb of DDR4 3200 on a 3090Ti. 3 other PC's using dual Chinese Xeon boards and life is really good.

I have two RTX 2080 ti's in sli on ASRock X570 Taichi with a R9-3950x
New games don't use sli, but following old games work perfectly in sli, however I had to use nVidia Profile Inspector to switch the profiles as the game manufacturers purposely disable sli.

todays games use previous frames to render upcoming frames, SLI is not compatible with that.
