ENGINE FAILURE ON MOUNTAIN APPROACH

I would think for emergency landings like this where you have to put it down in a tight spot whiteout any room to slide the "reverse" auto rotation where you rotate 180 degrees and put it down with no forward momentum would be safer? Also to me the "reverse" auto gyro technique seems more safe and easy to do in general (no danger of tail strike and no sliding when touching down)...

I am not a heli pilot other then did a little RC and flight sim years ago, but I keep being fed heli videos like this and I love helicopters :)

I flew aircrew on Coast Guard H-3 helicopters, and I really liked doing autorotation drills. They would pull really hard collective and the blades would really beat the air loudly (wop, wop, wop) and the nose would pitch up hard. Then just as it nosed over, before it could do the last hard drop to the ground, the copilot would Ram full throttle and as we pitched forward we would pull out of it. Really fun!
