Red vs Blue was a far better adaptation of Halo, lol.

Master Chief did show emotion, but it was SUBTLE. He wasn't shouting and screaming like some angsty teenager, he kept his emotions in check- like a professional. Even when he was visibly angry in his tone, it was justified.

He feels scared for the first time in Halo 1 when he encounters the Flood for the first time. He shows his anger when he gets frustrated at Guilty Spark in the Forerunner Library. He has a moment of sadness finding Captain Keyes corpse.

He feels fear seeing the Gravemind in Halo 2. In Halo 3, he's even almost happy to see The Arbiter again.

In Halo 4, you could see the desperation to save Cortana in his actions.

In Infinite, he pays respects to dead Spartan's he discovers, and at the end of the game almost gives his pilot a pat on the back for surviving being tortured - but he pulls back his hand because he's unsure it would help.

This is before even reaching the detail the books go into, because while he is just as focused and mission-oriented, they give a closer look into the thoughts of Master Chief.

Started watching it yesterday because I didnt know it was so bad, and it is on amazon prime, and I like halo. I was basically ambushed by how bad it was. The first time Master Chief took off his helmet it immediately pissed me off, then they made it a habit, then they took off his entire suit, and they completely killed the show for me. Master Chief lives in that suit, that is his hallmark, it was supposed to be very similar to how it was in the Mandalorian, except Master Chief is bolted into the suit, much like Ironman was for like the first movie. It wasnt something he is supposed to be able to get off easy, nor would you want your weapon to ever be ineffective like that because they are without their gear.

I thought I was gonna be able to see the Fall of Reach and be able to relive Noble 6 and maybe actually get some interaction with him and Master Chief, but no! I have to sit through this stupid girl who wants to fight a war with the UNSC instead of caring about the Covenant that just killed her whole town. She should have had a 15 minute role at most, but people did not come to watch her, they came to watch Master Chief fight a war.

I would've actually liked to see what Master Chief was doing on Reach while Noble 6 was doing his thing. From what I remember though, he was probably asleep in his pod until needed. I would've liked more information on the different series of Spartans, but no, I have to listen to how Halsey kidnapped John. From what I remember most Spartans are orphaned from covenant attacks, and they want revenge. That's what motivated them to become Spartans in the first place, and basically be raised as child soldiers, to adult killing machine.

I watched part of the first episode of Reacher, and now Im wondering why they couldn't have done that with Master Chief. A strong silent protagonist that only speaks to prove how bad ass he is. You save money on him not talking anyway! All you have to do is pay the stunt double for most the scenes and bring in the actor when needed, nobody would know. Hell you dont even need the actor to be on set, all you have to do is do voice overs, because Master Chief never takes off his helmet, and we wouldn't know otherwise. You could've gotten the Steve Downs to do the voice! Have someone else be a body double, and even if Master Chief takes off his armor, no one will know the difference because you dont have to have Master Chief talk, because he doesnt talk much anyway.

Halo is the easiest show that could ever be made. A toddler could make a great Halo series.

And Paramount f*ing botched it. Schreiber doubled down on how f*ing s**t the character and show was, so S2 will be equally bad.

They did the same thing with HBO's The Last of Us

The B plot with the girl was so bad I skipped it every single time it switched. It was useless to the story and so bad.

They have a season 2 coming out. I think they might have more of the Combat Evolved elements in that season. Just like Twisted Metal Season 2 is finally gonna bring in the actual Tournament.

The absolutely wild part of it is that the network paid TONS of money for the rights to the franchise because it is a PROVEN SUCCESSFUL FORMULA. WHY TF would you want to "deviate" from that and try to do something different? Blows my mind. Same for why 343 would just let Paramount taint the IP like this.

I really enjoyed the Halo show, and this is coming from someone who grew up with the video game franchise and was into it enough to read some of the novels. It wasn't a 10/10 show, but it was one of the few television shows that kept me engaged for the entire season and left me wanting to see more of it.

Some of the combat in the show is just plain awesome. when that marine on the hog gun got pumped full of needles and turned into pink mist.. yeah.. 10/10. Some combat was very clunky looking and paced very poorly and at times the CGI was cringy. The FX should’ve taken up probably twice the amount of the budget it does now and drop the amount of characters so the cast is slimmer. They put their money into all the wrong things.

My dad didn’t like the show. He knows what halo is because I’ve played halo since I was 7-8 (27 now) but doesn’t know what it’s about. So after he watched it I summarised what Halo The Flood was about which is obviously just halo ce and he was like. Why tf didn’t they make that?

They literally just needed to do the first books/games. They did us all dirty and fucked it up beyond recognition.

They might have a similar problem as games companies catering to the 1% of core players, making their games insurmountable grindfests for most others, in the process. Only here, it's the creative direction charting a course that they hope will appeal to the self-appointed critics on social media.
Think about it - what would have been written about a 80s style, shallow action series - like the stuff van Damme, Steven Seagal or Bruce Willis used to shoot. It would have been assassinated by the critics, because it lacks innovation, and we've all seen it a hundred times. Especially critics who consume probably a hundred hours of content per week in order to always have a relevant thing to say about the next big thing.
It's a real shame, though. I can't say I was expecting wonders from this series, but f me, I did not expect this nonsense.

There is a reason we have never seen master chiefs face in halo. It’s an extension of his character. He is a soldier, a fighter, and dedicated to that duty. The fact that he doesn’t express explicit emotion is a CHARACTER FEATURE!

The show was created by people who didn't know Halo because they didn't want to be hindered by the game? That's like a someone breaking their legs for the 100 meter dash and saying they didn't want to be hindered by the ability to run. Halo for the show was Usain Bolt for Olympic GOLD.
Math was simple:
Halo + Great = Great Show .
Paramount did Halo - Halo + Idiots x Stupid - Creativity = Bad Show.

For anyone who thinks just doing the first game plot as the show wouldn't be good, even so, it's still easy to make a halo show better than this in any other way. Here's an idea. Maybe like unto dawn, have the main characters be marines and they look up to chief like this optimus prime saviour type figure. They go through hardships fighting the covenant and if they want to add character to chief maybe as the series goes he gets slightly but not super a bit more emotional or caring. He can have an arc and still feel like chief. Maybe he goes from a stoic brute that just follows orders into a still stoic character but now thinks more independently and takes risks and breaks orders to save marines and civillians in the middle of conflict.

Bill Gates lost a bet at one of those Bohemian Grove rituals and now Halo is bad.

People expected different since "brunt" was the author's word of the day.

Almost all the adaptions that respect the original succeeded, almost all that don't failed , I don't understand how could they not get the message, or they just don't care, these ips people love are just toy for them to play their game with.
