I've long wondered if "katas" with a dummy could be used to retain techniques over time, allowing for more tools to be kept in the tollbox for those who don't naturally have the memory that Gordon has. I doubt most practitioners remember all the techniques and details they've learned throughout the years.

Gordon Ryan does have great jiu jitsu but is it really the greatest if it’s untested in true combat? I think to have the best it has to be applied in a fight because those other elements make it harder to perform. Gordon Ryan is also a juice head and if you say otherwise you don’t know what you’re looking at.
