You can invest in index funds or bonds ( for example the vangaurd Lifestratergy fund allows you to invest in both), I would say that's the best way to steadily grow your wealth. If you live in the UK you can make use of ISA's like the Lifetime ISA - you can withdraw your funds at retirement age. Your employer will do a pension contribution match, so that is another way to grow your pot of money.
