ОтветитьDo not atempt this yourself, be VERY VERY caferul with compressing springs I know a guy who smashed the front of his face in when the spring popped out.

I just looked at a 99 Sienna XLE
With 200k and the guy said he'd take 1900
Right there, runs drives good... Jump on it in today's market.
But it needs a strut mount or something else also, test drive has inconsistent weird changing noises.
Also the air flow selector switch didn't switch and is stuck on defrost.
Weird pax side front seat seams blown out. Automatic door non function warning light on.
Spring compressors are dangerous as heck

Can a bad strut top mount cause your car to pull when driving? Also can it cause a twang from the spring? My springs are fine by the way.
ОтветитьWhy does this joker never mention torque specs, or how dangerous spring compressors are
ОтветитьGet a Haynes or Chiltons manual for your car or even the original factory service manual if you can. Use a torque wrench and properly torque the bolts/nuts to the right torque so you don't have to worry about breaking them or them falling off while going down the road.

Ответить...and one should mention that before removing the strut mark the position of the camber angel on the lower mount in order to reinstall the new strut in the same position as before.

Ответитьhey i replaced one on my mother inlaws car and when ytou turn left and right it sounds and feels like the spring moves it is seated in right place but make a slipping noise or something i had to oput it back in vice to twist the top mount to make botttom line up

ОтветитьMy stupid dodge grand caravan struts have a nut on top that is located inside strut mount and can't be removed unless you hold another nut still

Thank you for this video. I can see why this would be a good thing to replace on a car with this many miles on it. I appreciate your advice. I love your channel.

ОтветитьI had my front struts changed about 2 years or 3 years ago. They only changed the front struts, but they used the original upper strut mounts. I am getting a clunking noise over bumps and a place I took it too recommends the upper strut mounts be replaced. They are also recommending a 4-way alignment. Is an alignment really that necessary if the upper strut mounts are replaced correctly?
