I was given one as a rental from my insurance company while my other SUV was in the shop. Drove it for over 3 weeks. It was downright terrible. No power, horribly cheap interior, tiny retro infotainment, hard seats, and on and on. If you're looking at this SUV, for goodness sake look for something else!

honestly i love the design! I was yesterday talking with a mecanic friend, i ask him his opinion on Mitsubishi, he told me older engines but build like a tank, he would own a mitsubishi over any german, american and korean product. Only ones that are build to last maybe more are Toyota, Honda are pretty good but not as much as mitsubishi, he said they are really underestimated. For me i really am considering one, we need a smaller vehicule because we have a nissan Rogue, so im between a crosstrek and the eclipse cross, i wouldn't hesitate if a hybrid or plugin hybrid was offered on the cross. The only problem for me is the the calibration of the cvt and the bad fuel .

There are trade offs with cvt transmission, they do not launch like an automatic , but it makes up for that at highway speeds and overtaking.

The engine in the eclipse cross is solid , with parts readily available, being an international vehicle parts are easy to source.

The 4b40 engine in the eclispe is also more reliable than any boxer engine from subaru and mazda sky active which suffers from carbon build up.

There is also no deterioration in transmission performance like the kia sportage and hyundai tucson which suffers from jerking.

If you live in a hilly area dont even consider dual clutch , like a sportage or tucson, your transmission wont last too long

To drive a mitsubishi, you have to be chill. You want to overtake/pass? Chill. Remember you're driving a mitsubishi. REMEMBER - CHILL or you'll be reminded you bought a gutless car. Chill and plan your purchase for your next car?

Lived in Thunder Bay, ON for a while, which has really Extreme weather, and Mitsubishi's were everywhere. They have a great reputation for reliability and affordable repairs because Mitsubishi does not overcomplicate things and basically do the same iteration over and over.
My father in law, who works on all his own cars, recently bought an rvr for these reasons. So far he is really happy - I drove it and I pleasantly surprised - interior was simple but the ride quality was perfectly fine.

I have a 2018 Eclipse Cross SEL and watched this video because I was curious about the changes since the first model year. Not a lot that I can see TBH. The interior on the 2024 looks exactly like the 2018 with the exception of the lack of the piano black accents which I personally could do without. I remember people bitching about the lack of knobs on the infotainment panel in 2018 and seeing knobs on this one...just WHY? It's so ugly. The knob-less panel is sleeker. This little SUV is sexy (I have the red diamond color and well worth the extra $600 5 years ago) and it's been reliable. I used to have 2 Newfoundland dogs who both fit comfortably in the back with the seats down. 🙂 I guess I'm a Mitsubishi girl since my other car is a 1997 3000GT VR4. ;) Anyway, thanks for a great review.

I like how the Eclipse drives better than a Rav4 or Tucson. The 1.5T is actually peppier than the NA 4cyl in the basic Toyota and Hyundai non-hybrid products.

The interior is meh, a bit plasticity but vice free. The S-AWC system is excellent for Canadian winters, and the feature content is very good.

It looks like you have paddle shifters there. In my Subaru Impreza I also have paddle shifters and if I don’t use them, the car feels sluggish. However, if I downshift using the paddle shifters, it does pick up quite readily and doesn’t feel as sluggish. I wonder if that would be the same with this car.

Noir does sound better than what we get with a certain trim on the Mitsubishi Mirage here in America.... We get a literal rectangular bar that says "Black Edition."

Again, all it means is that the paint is black, and the exterior chrome bits are painted black. Literally nothing else. We'd prefer a badge that says "Noir" instead.

If you want a high accelerating vehicle get a Track Hawk! This is designed to be an easy driving suburban vehicle, which it does admirably.
My wife has one an loves it. The Mitsubishi 1.5 litre turbo motor is tried and proven to be totally reliable. This is backed up with a 10 year power train warranty. For the money you would be hard pressed finding a quality Japanese built mid sized SUV.

Test drove one yesterday, ro upsize from our Mitsubishi RVR due to its lack of room in the back for adults. Right now you can get a 10 year/160K bumper to bumper warranty on them. At the price point and features, having to not worry about repairs for a decade is a nice touch. We have had our RVR for almost 7 years now, and of course besides the regular maintenance, we have had ZERO issues with the RVR

Just picked up our 2024 SE and am loving it.

I feel like you may have been a little harsh on the engine. To me it is a little sporty. Mazda is the only member of the class that is noticeably more peppy.

Beyond that, the size is really great for our family of 4, comfortable interior, quiet ride, and great AWD system. Through 4 cars we find mitsus really reliable.

Gas mileage is not amazing, this is true. But for everything else it holds up against the competition.

Thanks as always for the videos. Really helpful for deciding what to test.

Great review yet agin! I purchased a GT model last October, I do agree about the power plan and the fuel economy...not great selling points. What sold me initially was the 2.99% interest. It was very difficult to get good financing, yet Mitsubishi had an interesting offer. After sitting in a SEL model, I immediately fell in love with the seats, absolute comfort. After about 10000km I am starting to really appreciate the Eclipse Cross. The one thing that really surprised me was the lights, front, back and turn signals. Talk about being bright WOW! I do which that the CVT was programmed differently, it is a pain for the first 3 "gears". My driving still is really relax and I tend to follow the flow of traffic. If you want dynamic feel and response you will need to look somewhere else. The all wheel drive system is very good. The HVAC system is adequate, it does what it is supposed to do. I was driving a Leaf prior to this, so i do find it noisy, but you can easily keep a conversation with out raising your voice 😊. All in all I learned to be happy with the Eclipse Cross. I will admit that I prefer the Mitsubishi Outlander, for the same price of my Eclipse Cross I could off gotten the Outlander LE, Oh well now I now. My oldest loves the Eclipse Cross so it will be hers 😁

Mitsubishi gives you the fun of a Turbo, then takes the fun away by pairing it with a CVT. What's the point? Mitsubishi must explain this odd combination.
