George Fivas the last police commissioner to retire with honor from the police you mean? Seems to me that apartheid era spy/ cop is a recommendation as opposed to an anc era appointment- i think we need to re- evaluate our history

Tessa dooms- for a ‘political analyst’ she seems pretty dense- go to parliament, lift the hood, tell the public? Really? Tessa? Really?? is that how the anc works? I mean what a joke- the anc cant stop looting even when they know they are looting themselves out of power

Like JFK, like Thatcher, like Trump and many, many others, he rocked the establishment boat and the boat didn't like it.
My hat is off to this man and I wish him nothing but the best going forward.
Unfortunately though, in keeping with the ruling party's modus operandi, absolutely nothing will be done about what he has exposed and this once-beautiful country will continue to descend down the drain.

ANC isn't the sole problem. This kind of corruption can happen with any party that chooses to come into power we need to create measures that would ensure that this kind of abuse doesn't happen. And it's not only them that profit from corruption there are members of parliament from other parties that abuse their power as well but the media has made Corruption seem solely synonymous with the ANC which makes people make the assumption that they are the only ones profiting from corruption. I encourage you to read Zumas Keepers to what the problem truly is in SA.

Hi listen to this interview sends shivers into my spine. If what Andre is saying is true then we are doomed. Why cant the powers that be put this allegations to a litmus test and see what comes out. Throwing accusations and pointing fingers wont help. We the ordinary people are forced to pay high electricity bills but you ate 9n the dark most of the time. This Eishkom issue needs to be resolved once and for all.

6.5/10. It seems his failures could only be resolved by collective effort, commitment, and a strong culture of accountability from other stakeholders, especially the ministers. Unfortunately, words like accountability aren't synonymous with most African ruling parties. The challenges De Ruyter was faced with were not ordinary as he clearly had to face off with white-collar criminals who were highly resourced and organized, and there is everything that suggests they were "protected" too. His life may have been saved by covid lockdowns, had it not been for that, I strongly feel they may have successfully taken his life. He did well not to take personal security seriously. His courage to tell it all is truly inspiring.

Getting ANC out is overdue. However heaven help if DA take power! Goodbye SA. This means embracing neoliberal/neocon globalization. Capitalism is terminally over! New forms of governance need to be addressed. Huge problems have to be faced. AI is already taking over. Thousands to millions and more jobs and work will not be available. In a time where Africa is opening themselves to opportunities, the West will not give up without fighting back and Africa is still vulnerable. South Africa is much wanted by the US. They are around and will treat SA in the same way they’ve done all around the world. Leadership undermined, strife, occupation, war, destruction. South Africans regrettably are very ignorant in matters that define the danger of occupation. BRICS can save SA but South Africans don’t know this! Unreal!

De Ruyter failed to execute his duties as a leader. The wrong man for the job. Number one chokehold of a business is a leader. If the leader is confused and lost as the De Ruyter was at Eskom. The entire company will be lost.

We experienced the same corruption in my country when the Iron Curtain fell. It took many years but, finally Poland is a safe and, mostly, corruption free country. We are now prosperous and our economy is growing. We still suffer with outrageous government red tape and we are saddled with massive bureaucracy but things are much better.

I think Yellend, whilst very knowledgable, is a bit too conveniently arrogant being on the other side of the table and never having to actually fix the issues he speaks about. The details will come out. Daily Maverick will ensure that, if no-one else. They will out

The poor governance of the ANC is at the core of the failings at Eskom, where he says he had no support from SAPS, intelligence services that all the ANC destroying all the structures to ensure the efficient running of this country nothing will change until the government is removed. Some of the issues can be fixed with basic changes but you have so staggering ineptitude at the very top that the is no change that even the little progress can take place.

The DA should have capitalised on the failures of the ANC and help remove them but they are also just the other side of the same coin, they fail to get any by-in from the greater population because they put they own self-interest above hearing the voices of South African just like the ANC.
