The interesting thing with the Strive ranking is that you could say at the time it was recency bias, but with more time passing the influence of this game becomes more and more clear. Rollback existed for a while, as we even hear with this video on Killer Instinct, but following Strive now every single big fighting game franchise is damn near hostaged to have good rollback whether with new entries or in rollback updates, which yknow is a big win for all of us. Something that wasn't even mentioned was the meter system mechanics, risc and tension being meters which favour offense are already showing their influence in Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8. In terms of visual influence, calling Project L's visually identity Strive with a runeterra skin is not an understatement. It's pretty insane how much influence this game has already had in two years. Sound design as well, the COUNTER in Strive might be a bit too much for some people but compare COUNTER visual + sound design language with SF6 Drive Impact Collisions. They're not just slowed down they're LOUD. And I would say something about musical influence, but I have a really hard time thinking of any devs which could reach anywhere near the level Daisuke and Co's fanboyism gets with Strive.
Sure I can never do in Strive what I can do with Venom in previous GG entries, but there's a reason why this previously niche franchise broke into the FGC mainstream in a way no other from the fighting game underground has for a reason. Ultimately, those previous GG games are still there and with great netcode if you're looking for that complexity.
Ya love to see it
ОтветитьStreet Fighter II, Tekken 3, Soul Calibur II, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Mortal Kombat 9, Killer Instinct, Skull Girls, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Guilty Gear Strive, Street Fighter 6
ОтветитьYou know exactly this is a shitty list when the only MK entry is in the 10th place. Lol, on what earth hahaha. Mk9 is easily top 3 fighting games of all time and it's not even a debate lol.
ОтветитьMy first fighting game was Injustice 2 and I am kind of sad its not in this list, absolutely loved it
ОтветитьThis is a good reminder of how entirely disconnected I am from the fighting game genre. The only games I’m even familiar with are MK, Smash, SF, and KI(because it was a free xb1 launch title).
ОтветитьMax not expecting this list to come at him on such a personal level is the best 😂
ОтветитьI think they're thinking about what game would you play today. For example, would you play Tekken 3 over 7 even today?
ОтветитьSneakily getting us to watch a video he wrote. Nice
ОтветитьI would absolutely replace Skull Girls with SoulCalibur II
ОтветитьIt "ahh...ryu...ken".....not hodoken or what ever.....weird how most ppl dont know that their moves are their names together.
Ответитьsamurai shodown 4 for me
ОтветитьI’m glad KoF is getting so much love.
Ответитьim a casual fighting game player and based on very limited time with these games, Third Strike is still my fave SF
ОтветитьNo smash??? Good list
ОтветитьWhat complexity is lost in strives gameplay overhauls, (which really isn't as much of a loss as some would say) it gains an absolute firestorm of still hyper technical gameplay and depth and an incredibly easy to pickup and play game for even complete beginners. I've put people who hate fighting games and hate everything I've ever showed them in front of strive and they'll say it's the only fighting game they've ever enjoyed because you just have so much snappy control over your character. The game just flows naturally more than any other game ever made, for every level of player. Shits bussin
ОтветитьTekken will always be King of Fighting Games.
ОтветитьI’m not a fighting game guy but it is very interesting to watch
ОтветитьLol 3s sucks ass
ОтветитьLmaoooooo im more interested in how well he agreed with the list. So used to seeing bad reactions from any kind of list
ОтветитьMkX deserves to be top 10 in my opinion
ОтветитьJust imagine if Tekken 8 had another arcade mode like Tekken 5 where you could play Tekken 1-5
ОтветитьMy favorite fighting seires is SoulCalibur. I have played other fighting games like Tekken and Street Fighter but never got into them like Soul Calibur.. I also like DOA.
ОтветитьCVS2 YO!
ОтветитьNah strive isn't easy to play. I tried out Leo Whitefang... I'm used to Street Fighter or other fighting games they are much easier for me.
ОтветитьThe 10 Best Fighting Games (for a causal fighting game normie :) 07/05/23
1. Mortal Kombat X (10)
2. Tekken 2
3. Mortal Kombat 11
4. Injustice 2
5. Mortal Kombat 9 (2011)
6. Tekken 7
7. Tekken Tag Tournament 2
8. Tekken 6
9. Ultra Street Fighter 4
10. Street Fighter X Tekken
Wait wich is more casual ign or MOJO?
ОтветитьI think the main driving force behind this list is more about whether or not you can actually still buy and play the games in question. Hence no Tekken 3 or MvC2.
The list is certainly misleading, but “Best Fighting Games You Can Still Play Right Now” isn’t as click-baity.
Regardless, all the games on the list are still solid and in good taste.
terrible list sometimes IGN is full of turd I wouldn't even put marvel vs capcom 3 even in top 100
Ответитьmvc has to much stuff going on.. im not a fan of crazy fighting games where you cant even really see what the heck is going on.. im partial to MK and DOA/ Tekken. Nether needs to make a Marvel game in the style of injustice. SO sick
ОтветитьKI classic is literally my favorite game of all time
ОтветитьTekken 7 wasn't that good. No good new characters. A Nina & Bruce copy, which looks like DOA character & that weird Claudio. T6 had Lars, Lisa, Zafina, Miguel, Leo & Bob. All of them felt original & amazing to play. Models were also just a bit better than T6.
ОтветитьThat's a BAD pause on Yun and Akuma!! 😂😂
ОтветитьNot gonna lie... Killer Instinct is the only Microsoft exclusive I wish I could play on PlayStation.
ОтветитьRemember Soul caliber 2 was the one tht did it. Soul blade was the first remember on ps1. But it was hard not to hear MVC2 on there or even X-men vs Street fighter
ОтветитьSoul Blade (Edge) and Soul Calibur won me over in the fight genre in the late 90's /early 2000's. Characters, music, settings...it was great. I played the Street Fighters, Mortal Kombats, some Tekkens (rented), Killer Instincts...but something about the Soul Franchise just clicked with me. Going back and listening the Soul Blade intro...or it's soundtrack puts me at ease :)
ОтветитьNo.... Not a clue what they was thinking when wrote this list.
ОтветитьMVC2 #2
ОтветитьTekken 7 is the best Tekken for a very simple reason: I can play it on PC. I don't care how godly is T5 DR or whatever, if I can't play it, to me it's worthless.
Ответитьsmash bros?
ОтветитьSo Fight Night Champion and UFC are racing games now or what
ОтветитьIt’s laughable that MVC2 isn’t on this list and isn’t at the top
ОтветитьThe Max's face when OST of number 1 start to sound: 😳😲🥺
ОтветитьI don't know how you can leave the Soul Calibur series off this list. Also shout outs to Tobal #1, Bloody Roar, and THQ's UFC 3
ОтветитьDespite the fact that I have been playing fighting games since childhood, it was SF4 that brought me to this community for real. SF3 completely passed me by in those days, unlike Tekken 3, but after evaluating this game later, I came to the same conclusion. SF3 is the best fighting game. SF4 and SF Alpha 3 are nearby. There is something surprisingly attractive about it, amazing music, very beautiful graphics, unusual characters and endless gameplay depth. And of course the Evo Moment 37.
ОтветитьIf it wasn't 3rd strike it should have been super turbo.
ОтветитьNo MKx or MK11 this list is trash
ОтветитьNumber one should’ve been Dem Fightin Herds lol
Ответить
