Let’s be real here. People only cared because he was a white dude on social media. I’m native Canadian. There is actual mass murder and abduction of aboriginal women across Canada, it’s a known fact we have a name for where these women go missing from its “The Highway of Tears.” And it’s known that the second the police find out these mothers/daughters/sisters are First Nations the investigation just stops and they’re labeled runaway drug addicts… even if there is no history of drug abuse or running away in the woman’s history.

the thing is, if it weren't connected to real life tragedies I feel like it could've been such a cool arg

like,,, having "testinonials" from accounts and maybe even involving real tiktok users to try and make a really intense and involved arg would be sick, it would've been fun to follow. but it isn't an arg, it's real tragedies that involve real families

I love how all this is kinda happening in Portland Oregon or at least did happen this past summer. Not neccesarily constantly found in bodies of water but many people have gone missing recently in Portland.

Literal embodiment of a stunt queen, as a gay man myself I’ve noticed there are a lot of YT gay men specifically who love to embellish and make up the most ludicrous delusional stories. What a damn shame, I hope she gets what she deserves for all of this misinformation. If they are truly this delusional I hope they get some mental help because this is really concerning and it takes away from the victims of actual crime. There’s definitely a serial killer or two strolling Chicago but the target demographic seems to be African American prostitutes.

Armchair investigator is actually too good of a title for this clout-chasing man... I think a lot of good breakthroughs could happen with people not directly related to the case thinking and exploring different possibilities of the case. But yeah, not on social media - more like working with law enforcement or presenting their findings to law enforcement. There is no need to get famous off tragedies 😢

i can’t even imagine what the families feel, to have your loved one pass in a way that is devastating. whether it was because being inebriated made them decide on ending their life, or genuinely being an accident, and then have this guy on the internet using their passing for his conspiracy theory. not everything is a serial killer, and not everything is a crime needing solving. i hope the families of those who passed are living well and starting to heal from their loved one’s passing.

Good lord how gullible are people on TikTok? As someone that watches true crime daily for 10+ years. I have never seen a modern case of someone dying from accepting a lift from a stranger?! Women.. and only when kidnapped into a car. First off in this day and age, no one accepts rides from strangers! Period. Unless you were a prostitute.

Having spent my time banging my head against the brick wall known as USAJobs I can say with certainty: If someone says they're being 'proactively recruited by an agency' but doesn't already have the title, they have just told you *nothing*. The average length of recruitment for pretty much anything is 1-2 years and that's IF you even get that far. There are federal employees right now, stuck in their current jobs because they got their jobs before the website was created and now the system deems them 'under-qualified' for even horizontal transitions. Cpt America would likely get rejected from that site. :P

I've always hated the "smiley face killer" theory because it really confuses causation and correlation. Drunk guys in a certain age range are frequently found having drowned in these specific circumstances-- this only tells us for certain that drunk guys in this age range are more likely to drown in these circumstances. That's... really it. Just like how most of our mammoth fossils are male, the increase of deaths in specific circumstances only tells us about the relative vulnerability of this demographic in these circumstances.

As for the smiley face graffiti... okay. The most generic and common graffiti sure is going to be everywhere, yeah. There's MASSIVE variability in what could be considered smiley face graffiti anyway. It's not a specific style of smiley face or anything. That's not evidence. It's just coincidence.

I just don't get how so many people believed in this story. Drunk young men head home alone and are found drowned in a nearby body of water, and everyone is like "clearly an organized group of serial killers"? How on earth is that more believable than a drunk guy accidentally falling in the river, and since no one was there to help him out, he drowned. Oh, but there was one of the most common graffiti scribbles ever within a mile of where he was found / where he fell in!

The thing is, there is an important point to these tragic accidents: don't let your intoxicated friend leave alone! Even if they are a young strong man, accidents can happen to anyone and we need to look out for each other!

So, he claims all over social media that he was uncovering a ring of serial killers, and some random stranger knocks on his door one evening, and he LETS THE GUY IN??? He should have hired a better writer. Not very believable on that one point alone, never mind the rest of it.

Intrigued by the fact that I knew from the intro exactly what he was trying to promote. I'm not far in but the smiley face killers have been investigated by so many people including the officials and by the way, much longer than thos man has been investigating them. Its not even a secret that this isnt real. it's possible in very few cases. And what about the fact that the "smiley faces" are completely unrelated to the bodies?

Here's what's real. Starlight tours, creepy people, drunkenness in cold or dangerous places, impulsive decisions, and REAL. PEOPLE. Who had real lives and sadly didn't make it. there are real people who convince themselves this is what happened to their loved ones and spend years and years believing this hoax.

I want to be clear; this didn't even start on tiktok and it wasn't this dude's idea. This man took a false premise he already knew was false and ran with it.

his theory that victims were murdered before being dumped doesn’t even make sense. if a body is found with no water in the lungs, foul play is suspected. if it’s a drowning, while, yes, you could argue that they were murdered by drowning, then sure, but that’s not what he said.
