Old vid, but getting a brush and 90% isopropyl alcohol will smooth the surface out a bit more reliably than your fingers when you rake it.

What acrylic paint brand do you recommend for painting cos clay? I know so many use Folk Art but I want my paint to have great Lightfastness and Im looking into liquitex heavy body acrylics? Is folk art a great brand for polymer clay? Im planning on using it for painting my creepy horror cos clay jewelry which will handle more abuse than a sculpture, so I’m thinking of going with liquitex heavy body? Love your videos!!!!!!!

Hey man! great video. Might I ask: if I want to sculpt human figure around 40 cm with an armature, is it good idea to use polymer clay? I have fimo professional doll art and I'm wondering about the sizing right now

I’ve almost broken all my fingers with sculpey firm, I’ve incredibly weak and painful fingers but I also hate the easily squeezed and ruined Fimo soft, does anyone have a middle clay?

For reference I have hypermobility syndrome and not yet permanent but my fingers bend like swam-neck fingers to a point all my fingers crack with movement so it can’t be too firm. I can still straighten them but they get “stuck” with hand movements.

I unfortunately don't have a lot of time to watch this yet, but I would like to comment and ask before I forget (maybe it's addressed in the video idk yet): do you bake your detailed/realistic polymer clay sculptures in between layers or do you sculpt the whole thing and then bake once? If the former, how do you get cured clay stick to raw clay, and if the latter, how do you do so in such detail without damaging your progress by accident with fingerprints or others?

Sculpey III if fragile when baked. Mainly for small things like beads.
Sculpey III can be mixed 1 to 1 with premo translucent and makes a reasonable strong clay for bigger and thinner things.
I use this mix of premo translucent and Sculpey III because there are so many colours and its easier to make a colour match later, need be.

i bought fimo professional clay and i wanted to start practising sculpting. my biggest problem is that clay turns so soft that i cant manage it to stay in shape. first stages when i try to make a head shape from it and i try to Mold jawline, when i get first side of it done and move to other side, that first side goes totally out of shape. it gets me so frustrated..do you have some advice for that. maybe i make too small and soft "skull" inside of it and thats why It feels too soft.? can it be because of that.?

Great tutorials. I watched them in the middle of March this year, but only now I have the opportunity to write. Even when I was watching these videos, I was thinking of asking you: Did you think to try the sculptor on ZBrush? I see that classical sculptors continue traditionally. Why is this so? From the perspective of classical sculptors ZBrush is fake? This is an interesting question for me, because I started sculpting in Zbrush ( It's just a matter of the time we live in. There was no ZBrush there before. Now there is. And it is possible for someone to start sculpting first there, and then in the more traditional classical way.)
and then I tried the classic way. Even now I watch your lessons because of the classical sculpting. once again - a great tutorial, and a lot of fun too.

I wish i saw this video yesterday lol i did my first ever project with clay and couldnt figure out how to hold the clay without getting it all bumpy while pressing. Took FOREVER but I did it and im actually super proud of how it came out otherwise. Im planning on doing a bust and was kinda intimidated by the proportions of the face so thank you for the extremely helpful video!
