Anyone know what camera is PM using for Film
ОтветитьThis is amazing. One thing I am wondering - do you timestamp your film shots? Like with an app or roughly guess a time you took the shots, or do you not bother with that once your scans are in Lightroom?
ОтветитьLove it! Can you do a tutorial on how to shoot film?
ОтветитьWhy am I dying to know what’s on the backboard of that hoop??? 😂
ОтветитьBanger
ОтветитьCollab with @WillemVerbeeck for printing your own darkroom shots. You could maybe even learn from him as he shoots primarily film stock🤞🏼🤔
ОтветитьFor landscapes with cooler colors (blues and purples), I lean towards Fuji Pro 400H. The Fuji Pro films tend to be a little cooler than Portra. I would have chosen Fuji for lake towards the end, and the photo you mentioned was missing some of the purples in the sky.
ОтветитьLove it!!!!! As soon as I finish my first room of file in 30 years i will have to try some of these edits.
Hate to ask but I bought my step-son someones digital version of their photo book because he "hates dead trees" aka books. Yeah I know, but he turned me on to your stuff. Would you consider putting out your book in digital form for sale?
"You don't have to do it in a dark room anymore, You can do it in Lightroom"..............Brilliant 😂😂😂😂
Ответитьlong time, it was so many to edit and now simple edit. <3 what a slay edit bruh, good one!
ОтветитьMore vid for color match sir❤
ОтветитьFilm should not be edited, and if you do, you need to improve your skills.
ОтветитьI really like those Peyto Lake shots. When I was there recently I went down to the water and took a swim - boy was it chilli lol
Ответитьohhhh remembering hanging out in the dark room as a youngin'. That was some of the most fun as a teen in art class like 35 years ago, haha.
ОтветитьAbsolutely love this. Love seeing the film work you’re putting out, love your take on it, can’t wait for more!
ОтветитьPete another amazing video been a big fan ever since I found your channel. I have always felt digital photography lost something film photography brought to a photograph. Don’t get me wrong digital has its place, but film photography to me feels like a lost art. I have recently been given my late mums old film camera, a Canon AE-1 program. Which I’m very happy about as thought it was lost and I have a lot of memories with my mum using this camera. I can’t wait to start my journey in film photography. My question is what format are you getting the films put into for digital editing?
ОтветитьPlease more about film
ОтветитьKeep doing what you doing Peter.
ОтветитьAbsolutely man! Love tutorial vids like this
Ответитьnice
ОтветитьI would love to see some b&w 35mm.
Ответитьlike the detailed inf. Keep it coming.
ОтветитьOk so I had my company purchase an epidemic subscription cus of Peter but now he's all gung-ho about artlist... Which is the better one?... Cus I'm finding it harder to find good stuff on epidemic but I don't want to just jump ship cus it's the current sponsor if it's not actually better. Any advice on this!??
ОтветитьIt's getting lower......not even 1/10th
ОтветитьGreat video. Do you do any sharpening on your film shots?
ОтветитьYou need to do more videos like this… how to edit videos
ОтветитьI was expecting the "I'm happy to see all your smiling faces". Are you not happy to see our smiling faces? 😢😂
ОтветитьWhy didn’t you try to edit in a darkroom?Make some black and white photos…?
ОтветитьBecause I have and still shoot film. Unless the picture asks for a particular heavy edit. 95% of the time, I edit (if needed), just like you just did. Whether it’s film or digital. Then again. I learned to do most everything before you shoot. Makes a difference. So happy to see you embracing it all. 😊
ОтветитьMr. Peter, sir. I would love to see an updated tutorial on your video editing style. The music, the transitions, how you plan out your dialogue to keep it engaging, etc. Im an editor for three channels (one is ours, and im a hired editor for two others) and I watch your videos closely for your editing techniques as well as enjoying your content.
Something about your style has changed recently and I totally dig it. I’ve loosely followed you for years but lately I’m chomping at the bit for the next video.
For instance, your 800 days of field notes video completely captivated me and I’ve watched it multiple times. It’s great. Anyway, just a walkthrough of your current workflow would be awesome.
Now I know photo editing is not making your output completely different from input , it's just some wise smart changes to create a vibe or an emotion in a photo.
ОтветитьHello Peter I need an answer to a question. I just recently learned that some lenses need firmware updates now a days. I’ve never heard of this and figured you would be the best person to find out if it’s true or not. I haven’t bought anything new photography related since like 2015 so I wouldn’t know lol.
ОтветитьThis has been the video has actually made me super pumped to shoot in film. Before this I thought it would just be a bit too much effort but after seeing the results I'm gonna get into it!
ОтветитьI remember seeing you try to edit once and you were struggling. You said your photos were too dark and too moody and you didn't know much about gradients but it looks like you have progressed. It's interesting because I'm actually a very good landscape photography in Australia and my work is reasonably well-known within Australia and partly around the world and I have to say my editing was absolute rubbish when I started but over the last three years I've learnt to edit really well and this is largely due to mini features that Lightroom have offered. But getting the right light for images is the key. And getting the light in the right spots to draw your eyes into where you want. The viewer to go is critical. I have to be honest Peter I've never been the biggest fan of your Photography, but having looked at some of your later work, it actually has improved now. I know that you are a social media, content creator first and partially a photographer second. And that reality of the world we live in. That's not a criticism in fact i admire it. It's interesting because I switch to Fuji film two years ago and now I have two Fujifilm cameras and I can tell you one thing you edit a lot less with Fuji because the colours are so good and the colour science is brilliant and I know that leica cameras are very similar in terms of the colour science as well. Great job mate
ОтветитьThis overall look is what has me shooting my Fuji vs the Canon, I feel these “vintage” looks just look better to me. Rather tired of the super sharp/technical look.
ОтветитьI know you typically do one once a year, but I would love to see an update on "whats in my camera bag" especially since you switched to shooting film, idk I just love seeing the innovative packing and typical everyday carry. I would also love to see another "whats in my pockets" video. I think after a while since the last are there any EDC additions?
ОтветитьLoved this and you should do more!
ОтветитьLove watching you edit Peter, always something to learn!
Ответить110% helpful tips and teaching s, plz do the same for video color grading 🙏
ОтветитьThis was a good video, as I have been curious about what your process would be. I have become curious about trying film. There are quite a few technical what if’s I’ve been wondering about the workflow process of shooting film but converting to digital and process for modern media channels. I have yet to see a digital workflow capture the personality of grain that film produces, however I’m very curious if we can accurately simulate the color gamut/profile of these film stocks to adapt to digital.
The thing that gets me is when taking film from analog to digital to final product there are at least five processes of introducing color variables:
1. Film development
2. Digital scan color interpretation
3. Digital file output for edit
4. Digital edit/cooking
5. Output to digital color space or better yet, output to digital ICC profile to simulate print conditions to create an analog product.
I’ve sensed I’ve gone too far, however I think most importantly it’s the act of the photographic process with the Leica M system (or any vintage manual system) that may really be the most growth inducing element as developing your photography, versus digital burst mode at 10+ fps.
Keep on making great content PM. It will be interesting to see what project or theme you challenge yourself with in 2024.
Darkroom… lightroom… I never thought about that 😂
ОтветитьMinimal edits I like it, you da man Pete
ОтветитьI've been sliding more blue in pretty much every image I touch. But mines in Photoshop with the color balance. - 2, 0, plus +7, muh, beautiful.
ОтветитьI just realized how much I miss your studio tours.
ОтветитьFantastic! Makes me really want to start shooting film. Like the years of digital were a warmup to get ready for film.
ОтветитьI'd like to know how you edit your DIGITAL photos
ОтветитьBeen a Photographer for about 20 years and I've shot with sooo many different types of cameras and formats and though those years have explored a ton of editing styles. Shooting with the R5c and now the X1Dii Hasselblad I will usually barely tough an image when it comes to editing anymore. Those early high contrast super saturated edits of the early 2000's to then the million and 1 presets of teals and oranges of 2020 are just no interest to me anymore. I spend more time actually trying to make a photo and keep the colors and light how I saw it than over manipulate it to something more than what it was. Cool video!
Also: what are the settings you tell your lab on how to scan in the images. I've been using my EPSON V600 for quite a while for both 120 and 35mm film and out of any given roll I'm just about 50% satisfied with how the images come out. IDK if they are developed incorrectly or I'm not the best at scanning, but I would like some advice.
I find your film project fascinating, and really enjoyed your editing process with film. You have me somewhat interested experimenting with film again. Great video, thanks for sharing.
ОтветитьI love that you use Lightroom and not Lightroom classic in this video. Makes me feel like I don’t have to
ОтветитьCannot wait to see more of your monument valley photos
