If you got a vegetarian.pastie you did not get a true pastie real ones have rutabaga
ОтветитьOn the road to Naubinway there is a little camp store called Hog Island Camp Shop. Nicest guy, best pasties. I prefer mine with ketchup. Great tour!!
ОтветитьWhat thay had were pot pies
ОтветитьMy mother was born and raised in South Marquette on Division Street. I was born and raised in New Mexico. I fell in love with the UP in 1971 when Mom went to her 20th high school reunion. I swam in the same rock quarry she did, met tons of family and loved Lake Superior. In 1973 after I graduated from high school my Mom, Dad, and brothers moved to Marquette, sans me as I attended college in NM. Christmas and Summer breaks were WONDERFUL. Today my 43 year old son and I are going to make my Great Aunt's famous Pasties ( a long-standing family tradition) just as she made them for me in 1971. Thanks for taking me back to Marquette and the UP.
ОтветитьGreat drone footage of lakes, falls, & landscapes. Looks like you really did it right.
ОтветитьI’m guessing the vegetarian pasties didn’t blow you away, because pasties are build around meat and waxy potatoes. They are working people’s food for hardworking miners in Cornwall and then Michigan, who need substantial complete proteins to sustain themselves.
I imagine the umami was missing, so perhaps making one with mushrooms or tempeh would have been more satisfying.
Also…why did you order the vegetarian one? You guys ate bacon the night before,so you aren’t vegetarians right?
SHOCKED THAT YOU WOULD EAT QUAILS EGGS , SO SAD THE NEXT GENERATION OF BIRDS WAS WASTED ON BREAKFAST. WHAT THE HEY, RESPECT NATURE, PLEASE.
ОтветитьMarquette is home of Northern Michigan
ОтветитьMy two favorite pasties in U.P. are at Autrain Party store and Cal’s Party Store in Marquette. Lehto’s in St. Ignace are great too.
ОтветитьExcellent travelogue of a beautiful part of Michigan (I live downstate in southwest michigan—another great place).
Your video production quality is top notch.
One thing visitors should not miss is the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island (shown in your video). Rooms are prohibitively expensive in summer, but for $10 you have full visitor access to the hotel. The lunch buffet isn’t cheap—but it’s the most extravagant buffet you’ll ever experience (your $10 porch fee is deducted from the buffet price). Sitting on the hotel’s 600-foot-long porch, enjoying a drink and watching sailboats on Lake Huron, provides a taste of luxury.
I look forward to more of your videos.
My home....love it
ОтветитьOur State is just beautiful!!!! Come see us, you will fall in love here........ 🌲🌲🌲..
ОтветитьWelcome to the UP then go home !!
ОтветитьFifty-two years ago, my new wife and I loaded our 1963 Dodge Dart with borrowed camping gear and went on our honeymoon in the UP. This video brought back so many memories that you literally made me cry. I lost her five years ago and, when I go, our ashes will be scattered together from Grand Portal Port in the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Thank you and remember to live every moment as though it might be your last. Words of wisdom from a 75 year old traveler.
ОтветитьI thank God for Michigan. My home on Earth!!
ОтветитьI agree with billg1527 about how beautiful and informative this video was. The production value is top shelf. I love it. I have no idea how I found your site, but I assume it's because I'm from Michigan and watch a lot of nature shows. I wanted to suggest 1 thing. About 80% of the tourists leave at night on Mackinaw Island. It truly feels like another place in time. You do know the movie, "Somewhere In Time" was filmed here? Cool. BUT, COME AND STAY AT NIGHT. The B&Bs are quite reasonably priced where you share the bathroom and kitchen areas. Then, stay in mid to late September when the leaves are starting to change. Warm summer days, with cool autumn nights. The Island at night is SOOOOOOOOO FUN. Lots of pubs along Main street and off a few streets that have mostly folksy bands. Trust me, it is a whole difference experience at night. Thanks for the amazing videos. The 2 of you get 5 stars!!! Have a wonderful Holiday season and always drive safely. Phil
ОтветитьNot $5 per axle, it’s $4 for a car/ van/ truck
ОтветитьVeggie pasties just aren't the same.
ОтветитьThis parks in MI have dumping stations ?
ОтветитьEgads. MTU not MIT. Sorry but I had to point that out as a MTU grad. While MTU is not quite as prestigious as MIT, I do appreciate the comparison and frankly the academics are probably not that different between the two..
ОтветитьTouches most of the usual bases. Really good photography.
ОтветитьThis has to be a paid ad.
You missed EVERYTHING that makes the U.P. what it is. Source? I lived there
Once again. Houghton is home to Michigan Technological University NOT MIT.
ОтветитьThe casino outside Munising in Christmas Mi has free rv parking with free electric hookup
ОтветитьJust FYI - Marquette is home to Northern Michigan University and is not affiliated with the University of Michigan.
Secondly, Michigan Tech University is the name of the school in Houghton, Mi. (MIT is in Massachusetts).
Otherwise, this video is very well done. The camera & drone work is crisp. The narrating is very informative. Love the historical facts, too.
The UP has been 'second home' since the 70's and has provided decades of fun memories for generations.
PS - It's Petoskey not Petowski😊
Please show us the inside/workings of your RV.
ОтветитьJust found your channel. Awesome, beautiful and informative video. We are rving in the UP now. We jotted down more places to stop thanks to you! Safe travels!
ОтветитьMusic video👎👎👎👎👎👎💩💩💩💩😬
ОтветитьWhat a fabulous video- thank you so much it was perfect- I was on the island in 1997 and returning in 10 days!!!!! woo hoo! will spend 2 nights on the island -we can't wait!
ОтветитьThank you for this video. Yall did an amazing job!
ОтветитьOne of the best videos I’ve seen! Now I know what to see and where to stay! Thank you,
ОтветитьThe very best. may God continue to bless you with his love thru His creation. You both have God gifted talents
ОтветитьHey there, I feel fortunate to have found your channel 😊 one question: how was the weather in August?
ОтветитьGreat video! I am native to Michigan and am pleased that you had fun in our state. It is a beautiful state and is here to be enjoyed. I am a new follower and will be watching your videos. Thanks for the video. Peace
ОтветитьLove the video. Thanks for sharing! The only thing is that we like to keep this gem we called 'pure michigan' a secret. Shhhhhhh... let's keep this to ourselves.
ОтветитьThere are few things more delicious than a UP pasty! I'm English and I would say that they are better than Cornish pasties. (....I will probably get exiled for saying that!!) Not sure about the veggie option though because the beauty of the pasty is the peppery succulent minced beef.
ОтветитьBest pasty ever, The Pasty Shop in Iron River
ОтветитьThe filling you need on the inside is chicken and chicken gravy made with butter the South Carolina way babe!
ОтветитьGreat Video!
We LOVE Michigan.
Thank you so much for sharing! I loved watching your adventure while I sit inside on a cold Wisconsin January evening. Your segment on Munising and Pictured Rocks was excellent. I worked as a kayak guide for Carl and NWA in 2020! Seeing Miners Beach brought me tons of good memories 😌 happy trails!
ОтветитьIn Marquette, it's Northern Michigan University. While there did you visit the INDOOR football field inside a wooden building on the campus? Next trip Grand Marais [village]should be on your list of villages to visit. From there to Munising on H58 road is terrific. And, when you passed through Houghton/Hancock [2 cities not 1], you went past 'Roy's Pasties'. You missed the U.P.'s best. There's much more than pasties, too. First time to your site. Good job. Good luck.
ОтветитьSo glad that you enjoyed this area. My husband and I lived in Eagle River which was just south of the jam pot on the road. Such a peaceful area, we will be visiting again this year.
ОтветитьEnjoyed the sites ty both ☺ 💓 😊 💗
ОтветитьI’m glad they are preserving white culture on the island
ОтветитьI would suggest you get a T-shirt that says. I'm so tough I swim in Lake Superior. Great video
ОтветитьI wouldn't step foot in your state. 😁
ОтветитьMichigan native here❤ loved this video. Great job !!!!
ОтветитьI'm from Kentucky, but I've hiked from Munising to the Big Mac Bridge with a hiking club I used to come up to hike with several summers. Pictured Rocks area was gorgeous. I've done that part twice.
